friendly staff, pretty surroundings and a comfy hotel. Couldn't ask for more, it was really lovely. The rooms came with all that we required (tables) and the views were incredible. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone that loves the country side and real Spain. Breakfast was typically very Spanish and lovely.

“Lovely hotel. Would stay in room not apartment next time”

Hotel is very pretty nestled just outside the heart of the town set high with commanding views across town and towards the camels roc formations. It’s a couple minutes walk from the hotel to the town centre. We luckily had sunny weather so the setting was further enhanced. It’s an oasis for bird lovers with abundant bird song all day. We stayed in an apartment which was fine but a little dated in its interior style and the access to the apartment door is a grass slope so it is not easy for anyone with any mobility issues. Unfortunately the hotel staff had sprayed insect killer before our arrival and had not aired the apartment so the smell of the chemical was very strong all evening. If anyone knows the smell of ant/ insect spray you will understand that this was highly unpleasant and we had to open every window for many hours to try and clean the air. We would have mentioned this to the hotel staff but this conversation would have been too difficult for us with our Spanish language skills so we accepted the situation even though it was not a nice experience. We ate at the hotel for our evening meal which was very good and also so was breakfast. We have workable Spanish so managed to get by when communicating. At evening dinner we met a member of staff who spoke English, a young gentleman, who had impeccable language skills and he was extremely polite and well mannered. We would stay here again but we would book a room in the main hotel not an apartment.

“Simple rural stay in spectacular natural setting”

Stayed one night with a cycling group in the Pueblo. It is at the very top of a perched village which makes it a very quiet place in a majestic setting. We also had dinner and breakfast on premises. Dinner was plentiful, tapas style. Breakfast was good but we would have liked more protein for the bike ride that followed.

“Great little hotel in perfect location”

We were lucky to get a place anywhere in this small village in January, on a Sunday evening, as usually everything is pretty well closed at those times. We think perhaps the owners took pity on us as they were cleaning rooms at the end of a busy weekend, and said we could have a room for the night… more

We were lucky to get a place anywhere in this small village in January, on a Sunday evening, as usually everything is pretty well closed at those times. We think perhaps the owners took pity on us as they were cleaning rooms at the end of a busy weekend, and said we could have a room for the night only if we were out by 9am the next morning, which suited us fine. La Puebla is the very last house at the top of the village, which means it has a perfect view of the roofs of the village and the amazing rock formations of the Castillo. It is also no distance at all to the start of the walks up the mountain (don't miss the short walk to the Chuzos, or stone huts, on the paramo). The downside is that you have to get there! We repacked just the essentials into an overnight bag so we could walk up the village from the parking on the main road, as there is no way you could drive. The room was lovely, probably the most spacious we've had in northern Spain. Reasonable sized bathroom, but up a step, so you had to have your wits about you to avoid tripping, especially in the dark. There was a lovely lounge area in the breakfast dining room, and a nice terrace outside that would be magic in good weather. If you are in the area, don't miss this amazing little village, and stay here!
