“Really good for kids”

Stayed for 3 nights in July 2022 with two children. The hotel is old, but mostly very good, clean and comfortable for the reasonable price of around 100 euros a night. Quite big pool area with a small pool for children. A lot of sunbeds and a bar that is open until afternoon. In the hotel there is a free-of-charge kids club (miniclub) with an employee playing with the kids, and 3+ year-olds can stay without parents. Open almost all day. Our children loved it, and often rather wanted to go there than play in the pool. The teacher is lovely and does all kinds of fun things with the kids. They were even given a diploma and a t-shirt after participation. The breakfast was very poor though and needs an immediate improvement. We had it one day, and can't recommend it for any price. Not many options , and food didnt seem fresh and was not tasty. Pastries didnt seem to be from the same day. Long queue to the coffee machine because 2 out of 3 machines were out of use.

“Big relaxing block of a hotel, liked it very much”

Just three dots is a tad unfair, add a half. This is a big resort and event hotel - it has a number of outdoor swimming pools and several terraces, but that did not distract in any way from the enjoyment of our stay. It was a one-night stopover, so it can be hard to judge. it's airy, spacious, with a huge foyer to relax in, large wide corridors and generous rooms. The front desk service was pretty good, the restaurant service was better even though they do volume - exclusivity is not the thing here. And i discovered Caracamusas here, a wonderful dish local to Toledo I believe, but popular now across Spain. I tried it elsewhere but the restaurant here served the best of all. It's a landmark hotel but it was tricky to find - it might have been me after a 400-mile trip that day, a 10/15-minute taxi ride to the centre of town which is so worth a visit. Steel and swords are its heritage industry, so they're for sale in all kinds of formats in town - ceremonial I'm sure, and the great Eagle of Toledo, Fredrico Bahamontes, one of Spain's greatest ever cyclists, is remembered in a typical climbing pose - his specialism - on a hill near the old town. The cathedral is reviewed elsewhere and is a must. Our regret was not staying longer in this hotel, its very relaxed. But I have pretty much perfected caracamusas to remember it by, more appropriate than climbing mountains on a bike or swordfighting.

On the positive side, the rooms are spacious as are the bathrooms - could do with an update, but bigger than average; Housekeeping was efficient. However, with almost 300 rooms,be aware that this hotel caters for tourist parties/conferences/events with all that that implies i.e. 2 sittings for breakfast. There was a huge choice for the buffet breakfast, but not a place for a romantic breakfast, or indeed dinner, as the noise level in the cafeteria is very loud; I hesitate to call it a restaurent as there is another in the complex which we didn't try. The hotel is also about 2kms from the historical centre of Toledo, which could be one of the reasons for your visit. Apparently it is possible to walk there (uphill after a flat approach, and in the heat?), but it is difficult to navigate and the receptionists weren't able to be much help. As a consequence in order to visit you need to take a taxi (approximately 10 euros each way) which adds to the cost. And if you don't wish to eat at the hotel you also need to book a taxi. In this respect, the receptionists were very helpful. If your reason for visiting Toledo is for a conference, then this could be for you, otherwise as a simple tourist, I would look elsewhere in town.
