Hotel Jalance Experience

“Loved my stay here”

Jalance is a lovely little town and this hotel is befitting of the surroundings. The staff were friendly and the room was large and modern and most importantly very clean. The restaurant served a decent dinner and so too breakfast. Would definitely stay again should I be passing through the area.

We arrived very early and the receptionist was happy to look after our luggage until check in time so that we could tour the local area. Our room was a fair size, clean, well air conditioned, had plenty of storage space and stunning views. Unfortunately, we were staying at the same time as a large group of adults and children. The hotel, in their wisdom, decided to give us a room amongst these guests so that we were disturbed until at least 1am by children running, shouting and slamming doors. Surely, there were other quieter options available for us which we would have explored had we been staying longer than one night. The other issue was dinner, we booked a half-board package expecting a reasonable menu choice not a child oriented buffet (served from 9pm which was 30 minutes later than advertised). The receptionist was very helpful and after 2 visits to the kitchen, negotiated that we would be offered a very limited choice of 2 starters and 2 main courses which would be prepared for us and subsequently other guests who were clearly not part of the large group and also unimpressed with the buffet. The gazpacho was fairly bland but the chicken breast with padron peppers and potatoes was very tasty indeed. Dessert was from the buffet. Unfortunately, the children/youths were mostly unsupervised at dinner, some were running around in swim shorts without shirts and costumes without shorts and were incredibly noisy. As a teacher, I have taken children on residential trips to hotels and I know they can be better behaved than this. Surely also, the hotel and/or the adults should have implemented a dress code for dinner in what was a 3* hotel restaurant. Breakfast was a basic buffet but we expected more from a 3* hotel, we have had much better breakfasts in Casa Rurals which are cheaper and have less stars. The entrance canopy was in a state of near collapse, not an impressive welcome, this was the first thing my husband (who is an engineer) noticed. There is a good sized pool and bar outside with some lovely outdoor seating areas overlooking both sides of the valley.
