What a fantastic experience at this beautiful seaside hotel on the coast of Halmstad! We discovered it by chance while driving from Norway to Denmark, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The hotel features an impressive art gallery and a truly unique exhibition of classic and sports cars, including several Ferraris from the private collection of the owner, Per Gessle (founder of Roxette), and his family. It was a real treat to see. We also arrived just in time for the hotel’s fantastic after-beach party, where a brilliant entertainer had everyone singing along to classic hits. To top it all off, despite the hotel being fully booked because of a Pernilla Wahlgren concert, the wonderful head waiter managed to find us a table at the tapas restaurant. The service was outstanding, and the food was simply out of this world—without a doubt some of the best tapas we’ve ever had. We absolutely loved our stay, even though it was only for one night. We will definitely be back and can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable experience on the Swedish coast. A special thank you to Per Gessle and everyone involved for creating such a unique and unforgettable destination!

This hotel is co-owned by Roxette’s Per Gessle, and showcases his Ferraris and collection of art and photography. I suggest to take the stairs instead of the elevator to appreciate the photography lining the corridors and staircases. Try to arrive early to secure parking as quite popular during the summer. If parking at the back of hotel, finding the back entrance may not be easy as signage is unclear. Check-in and check out is smooth and the hotel feels luxurious but not overwhelming in size. Tylösand beach outside the hotel has in my opinion the best fine grained sand in Sweden. I love walking barefoot on this beach. The beach is long and water flat which is great for kids. The spa is wonderful, with care and thought in designing the spa experience. The highlight was a film & swim night where a film was playing in the swimming pool. This is the first time I’ve come across this! There’s 2 levels of spa area, with the second level for +15 years only- which is great. There’s no shortage of water and fruits on both levels. There’s the main pool, spa, sauna and cold plunge on level 1 with a bar for snacks and drinks. The only minor disappointment was the nachos dish which the staff literally served out of a Santa Maria bag and charged 85kr for it (for that price you would get a home fried nachos and guacamole in Båstad Hamn). But that setback was not enough to ruin one of the best spa and hotel experiences. Do take advantage of the spa on level 2- which also has a bar, tea and fruit. Start with a foot bath while admiring the view (no one really understood what the brushes were for: if it’s to scrub your feet or the tub:). There’s a a steam room, soft sauna and bucket shower. There’s an indoor bath which literally made me float and relax. Highly recommended. There’s no shortage of laying beds or lounges to relax. And of course there’s the outdoor spa. Note that you cannot access the beach directly from the pool/spa area. You will need to leave the hotel via the beachside entrance with your robe on. The morning programs at the gym were also popular - try to get in early for the strength sessions. Breakfast buffet was lovely with an omelette chef and freshly squeezed orange juice (kids loved making their own by adding the whole oranges in the machine). You also don’t need to make your own waffles which means perfect waffles each time ;) Room service was great, timely and staff was friendly. Do allow at least 30 mins for dinner orders especially on busy nights. Interesting that they didn’t charge a surcharge for the room service, so I leave a tip instead. I enjoyed my stay and felt refreshed afterwards. Pity I didn’t get to see Per Gessle as we listened to Roxette songs and Gyllene Tider all the way there! But if you want to hear his voice - just call and you will hear him guiding you to which numbers to press while you “listened (to your heart)”. (Although he probably should have greeted with “Hello, you fool, I love you”- but that sounds Dangerous). Will be sure to come back. For now, I’m fading like a flower since leaving Hotel Tylösand…
