The positives: Location ... when you hop off the train with heavy luggage and you can see your hotel from the platform, this is a good thing. Also a short walk to most of Interlaken. The building itself is very pretty, especially with the backdrop of the alps and the river in front. The breakfasts were good. Lots of variety and quite fresh. The view; absolutely stunning view of the swiss alps ... I'll never forget it. The place seemed clean enough. The negatives ... this place hasn't been renovated since, I would estimate, the 70s given some of the wallpaper I recognised from my childhood. There is no aircon and I'd hate to stay there in the warmer months. The beds are okay and the pillows were comfortable. There was mould on the wood on the windows - this is not healthy at all and needs to be cleaned. I found it relatively quiet when the windows were shut but it was hot with the windows shut (even in May) so god help you if you're there in summer. Our bathroom was older than god and in desperate need of ripout and refit. Clearly there's a water leak, because near the bathroom door (the water is obviously travelling underneath the tiles somehow) there is water damage to the wood parquetry. The water is obviously escaping into the living/bed area as well because there is mould underneath the wallpaper. $335AUD per night and there's visible mould? Not cool.

“Will not be our future choice”

Stayed for 3 nights (2 couples) while visiting the Interlaken area including a trip to the Jungfrau Mountain. Stayed for 3 nights (2 couples) while visiting the Interlaken area including a trip to the Jungfrau Mountain. Hotel is in a good location to Interlaken West station with only a 3 minute walk from one to the other. Views from the hotel are good, especially from higher floors, looking along the river and mountain areas Check in was straight forward although the receptionist was maybe not the friendliest, but however did sort things out to our satisfaction. We had rooms on the third floor which had great views from the windows and balconies. The rooms were clean but maybe a bit dated lacking some basic facilities. There is no courtesy tray or air conditioning, however a desktop fan was available for use within the room. Breakfast was included, self service buffet, which was well stocked and adequate seating area. There are no other catering facilities other than a vending machine in the reception area. The hotel overall is tired both inside and outside, is in urgent need of renovation and upgrade, to be honest some basic handyman tasks would make a difference in so many areas to the hotels appearance and guest experience. Some rooms are being used for the storage of furniture items, odd to find shopping trolleys in the hallways…!! There appears to be some residents who may be living permanent within the hotel, but maybe I’m wrong about this, behaviours of staff towards certain guests was a bit surprising. Good Points - Great Location and views Bad Points - Tired poorly maintained building, reception staff lack ability to interact and acknowledge customers. Would I stay here again - No, there are other hotels locally and in same price range that would exceed the current level of accommodation provided by Hotel Continental
