“Beautiful Views, but Mixed Experience”

We stayed at Hotel Schützen Lauterbrunnen as a family of four. The location is great—it’s a traditional chalet-style hotel with stunning views and right next to the Staubbach Falls. Its a 5-minute walk from Lauterbrunnen railway station. Be aware though, the walk involves a bit of an uphill climb, which can be tricky if you’re carrying heavy luggage. Our room was in the attic on the 4th floor. Since the elevator only goes up to the 3rd floor, we had to climb one extra flight of stairs. The attic room was quite congested, with one double bed and two singles squeezed in. The bathroom was also small, lacked toiletries, and unfortunately the shower drain was clogged. During summer it can get very hot, and although there were fans provided (we even requested an extra one and the receptionist kindly arranged it), it was still uncomfortable at times. On the positive side, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a restaurant at the entrance where breakfast is served. Breakfast was basic with limited options. The restaurant itself is open until 10 pm (kitchen closes at 9 pm). One downside was overhearing some restaurant staff making fun of other guests, which didn’t feel professional. That said, enjoying a cold Rugenbräu Lager there after a long summer day was a real treat. Overall, this hotel offers a beautiful chalet setting and great location, but the rooms and facilities could use improvement.

“Rooms vary a lot for a similar price.”

Our family had 2 rooms and there was a big difference between them despite costing a similar price. Room 12 has balcony and was obviously done up and the bathroom was nice. Luckily family! Our family had 2 rooms and there was a big difference between them despite costing a similar price. Room 12 has balcony and was obviously done up and the bathroom was nice. Luckily family! We however, had room 24. Only 1 socket in the whole room and it didn't work. The extension for the wall mounted TV luckily did but the entrance light also didn't work. There was loose tiles on bathroom floor and hair in the shower. Room overly hot and provided fan provided almost no air and couldn't leave on as we only had 1 socket to charge stuff up with. Needs at least 2 or 3 sockets for a 4 person room. Kettle but no tea/coffee provided and no where it could be plugged in. There's very mixed reviews here and it seems some rooms are far better than others. I'd give room 12 8/10 and room 3/10.
