I rarely leave reviews of hotels these days as I'm in so many, but after last week's stay I really feel that the Residence Studios has been so underrated to the point that I nearly avoided choosing it, so I felt compelled to leave a positive account of my 3 day stay. The area is so convenient, 5 mins walk from Cornavin station, 7 mins walk from the lake, and it's a busy and bustling area... supermarkets, shops, bars and cafes all very nearby. Yes there are some groups of young North African men hanging around of an evening and there are a few strip clubs and working girls dotted about, but it's perfectly safe and I never felt bothered by anyone. The crime rate is very low, something I have to check up on as part of my work. Going by the traveller pictures I think I must have had the most basic of rooms, my first impression was that it was quite spartan. Nevertheless it was spotlessly clean, secure and safe, and the excellent air conditioning was a huge relief on such a hot week. There was everything I needed, a good iron and ironing board, sufficient plug outlets to charge, a good fridge and a microwave, and some kitchen basics like glasses, plates and forks etc.. The bed was very comfortable, and contrary to some reviews I didn’t find the place at all noisy. Let's be clear, this is not a luxury or a romantic hotel, but it is a very clean, good value stay for the business traveller (certainly by Geneva standards where rooms are easily double or triple this rate) and I found it a great base to work from. I'd have absolutely no hesitation in returning!

Approx 8 mins walk to Geneva Train Station. On the way, 1 or 2 streets are part of the red light district. In the vicinity of the hotel is Novotel and Ibis. Approx 8 mins walk to Geneva Train Station. On the way, 1 or 2 streets are part of the red light district. In the vicinity of the hotel is Novotel and Ibis. Check in is at Novotel, which was efficient. The only elevator in the building is the “old” type and very small. The room allotted to us was on Level 1 that have a view of a porch top and surrounding buildings. What shock me when we entered our room was the bare white and grey walls plus grey curtains, which gave a depressing and dull prison-like feeling. On the second day, I managed to adapt to the atmosphere. What we like about the layout is the small kitchenette but without a hot plant or stove.

If you are in a business trip and need a room for night staying with decent privacy, this a place you are looking for. This is rather a small studio with a microwave, fridge and washing sink with relatively economic rent. Although it is difficult to identify unless you read the instructions carefully in the reservation page. It is under the supervision of the Novotel Hotel, but no dedicated staff is assigned for the apartments.

During my stay at the Residence Studio Geneve Centre Hotel in Geneva, I encountered a few notable highs and lows that shaped my overall impression of the property. Located in the heart of a bustling area, the hotel offers both convenience and a couple of challenges. Firstly, the noise level around the hotel can be quite disturbing. Due to its central location, the sounds of shouting individuals and loud vehicles frequently permeated the room, making it difficult to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. Additionally, the sound of doors slamming within the hotel itself was surprisingly loud, often startling me awake even from another room. This aspect of the stay certainly detracted from the comfort and restfulness one would expect from a hotel experience. Secondly, the breakfast offering was disappointing, especially considering the price point. Having checked in at the nearby Novotel, I had expected a similar dining experience. However, while Novotel guests enjoyed a diverse buffet, those staying at Residence Studio were provided with a very basic meal—two pieces of bread, a banana, a single serving of commercially packaged yogurt, and beverages including coffee and orange juice. For 15 Swiss Francs, this breakfast felt underwhelming and did not meet the expectations set by the hotel's affiliation with Novotel. In conclusion, while the Residence Studio Geneve Centre Hotel benefits from its prime location in Geneva, prospective guests should be prepared for the significant noise from both inside and outside the hotel and a basic breakfast that might not deliver satisfactory value. Travelers seeking tranquility and a hearty morning meal might find these points worth considering before booking.
