Having just returned from this hotel where we stayed as part of a national holiday tour we found the hotel adequately comfortable for the price we paid. The beds were clean and comfortable with ensuite facilities, a large balcony with tremendous views, the food was perfectly alright and the staff very friendly, we also had a free bar from 6pm until 10pm. Peter the manager took the mini bus to the village to enable us to take the chair lift to the top of the mountain incredibly beautiful and not to be missed. There are two lakes within walking distance of the hotel which are very nice both have restaurants where you can get a nice meal or a drink for a reasonable price. How you can complain about this hotel is beyond me it is a ski resort not a five star hotel what does one expect for the money!

Stayed here for 1 night on a snowboarding weekend in Flims/Laax. Overall was a good value given the cost relative to other properties. The hotel itself is fine, relatively basic, but nothing surprising compared to other classic Swiss ski/snowboard hotels across the country. Two points that kept my rating below 4 was the service and location. Front desk staff were often difficult to find and overall service was below average. Not very friendly compared to other ski/snowboard hotels and unfortunately not that helpful either. Given the location, would have been nice to give the visitors card on check in instead of needing to be asked, and some details about the bus would be useful. The location of the hotel is unfortunately not very convenient. Based on the map it appears reasonably close to the Flims gondola up the mountain, but from the elevation of the main road in Flims, the village drops down like a bowl. This hotel is unfortunately basically at the bottom of the bowl so it is quite a trek up or downhill to the main road. There is a bus that runs between the hotel and the Flims gondola but I didn't know about it until later in my stay (information from the hotel staff would have helped). Additionally, the bus only runs during ski/snowboard hours, so is not available if you want to go out for dinner. Lastly, there is no dedicated luggage storage room (you just leave it in the common room). It is generally quite safe to leave your items unattended in Switzerland but the setup is suboptimal from a security point of view. Overall the stay was fine, but if I was returning to Flims again, I would stay closer to the main road.

We booked the all inclusive Caledonian Holidays Swiss Lakes and Glacier Express 10 day tour, staying for 5 nights at Hotel Surpunt. This small hotel is very clean with amazing views of the surrounding area. The bedroom was spacious with good facilities but a kettle and some teabags/coffee would be a welcome addition. Breakfast was perfectly acceptable - choice of cereals, yoghurts, rolls, bread, meats and cheese, tomatoes, peppers and cucumber. Our itinerary included "free beer, wine, water, soft drinks, tea and coffee between 6 and 10pm". As both my friend and I don't drink alcohol, this should have been a good deal. However we were informed on the first night that soft drinks were NOT included so you could swallow as much wine and beer as you liked but we had to pay 4 Swiss francs for a small bottle of sparkling water or a Fanta. There was another lady on our tour who had a medical reason for not drinking alcohol and she had a large fresh orange juice every night. Thankfully our coach driver Peter kept a supply of chilled still water on the coach for 80p a bottle so after the first night we got our water from him. Previous reviews (from August 2017) state soft drinks were included. At the end of our stay we had to pay for the 3 bottles of sparkling water we had on the first night, however the other lady was given her orange juices for free. You cannot have one rule for one and one for another. The food was okay but absolutely no choice at dinner (3 courses) apart from a vegetarian main. The initial portions were fairly small but seconds were provided. When paying over £800 for a tour I would expect a choice of at least one hot and one cold starter, a meat or fish option and a couple of desserts. The two mousse type desserts were alright, the apple pie was lovely but would have been better with some cream or ice cream. One night the dessert was some tinned mandarins, again with no ice cream or cream. The outstanding scenery outweighed the lack of food choices but I would not return to this particular hotel.
