“Good hotel but better staff training needed”

Good, clean hotel with nice big rooms but the reception staff is inconsistent. House keeping staff on 6th floor keeps chatting loudly while cleaning even at 7:30 am.

“If you don’t need to take bath, you can book this hotel.”

I requested the bath gel by call to reception for two times and wait over half an hour but still cannot get the bath gel. I need to go to the reception by myself and wait another 15 mins to get the bath gel.

I’ve stayed here many times and loved it, but not for the past couple of years. I knew a renovation which was promoted for many years was finally completed. But what happened? This was a fun, quirky hotel with great train and airport access. You can no longer access the train via the inside - perhaps once the construction is done. The rooms have been neutered. No more cute Swiss decor. Now it’s an anywhere generic hotel. There’s a huge, weird fashion print above the bed. There used to be good counter and luggage space in the room, now just one flimsy luggage rack. The bathroom is tragic. The tub with window looking through to the runways in runway view room is gone, replaced with a shower with half glass panel so the floor inevitably gets wet. No clock in the room and no water. They have a sign about the very clean Swiss tap water, which is true, but who wants to drink out if a gross bathroom tap and glasses which may or may not be clean? Who designs a bathroom with not one wall or door hook for clothes or towels? The hairdryer is terrible for anyone with hair. And, big ugh, the communal soap bottles. I did appreciate the robe and toothbrush amenity. A hamburger cost 50chf. This hotel is now a hard pass for me. The location is great for those needing to be at the airport but the Hyatt Regency in the Circle is an equivalent price but much better value IMO.

We stayed here the night before our early flight home after spending three wonderful weeks in Switzerland. Being connected to the airport made our early morning departure incredibly convenient. We were also pleasantly surprised that our room was ready before the official check-in time, which gave us plenty of time to repack our bags before our flight. The room itself was comfortable, with a spacious bathroom and a refrigerator. I do agree with other reviewers about the lighting, though. Our room felt quite dark, possibly because it was an interior room overlooking the lobby, and the limited natural light made it feel a bit gloomy. Here's where our stay took an unexpected turn. We had to wake up at 3:30 a.m., so we went to bed around 9:00 p.m. At approximately 10:30 p.m., the child in the room next door began running back and forth while screaming at the top of their lungs. It wasn't just occasional noise—it was continuous, ear-piercing screaming. We never heard an adult attempting to comfort or calm the child, so we called the front desk out of concern for the child's welfare as much as the noise. We were surprised when we were told they were not allowed to check on the situation. Weird. To make matters more confusing, the front desk employee then asked my daughter, who had answered the phone, who was in the room with her. After she explained that her mom was with her, the employee stated that our reservation was only for one guest. That wasn't accurate; it had been corrected during check-in earlier that day. I do want to recognize Rodrigo at the front desk during checkout. He was kind, genuinely apologetic, and took the time to listen to our concerns. Before we left, he offered us coffee, tea, and water and even gave us two pre-made sandwiches for our trip home. His excellent customer service was greatly appreciated and ended our stay on a much more positive note. Would I stay here again? I'm not sure. The convenience of being directly connected to the airport is hard to beat, especially for an early morning flight. However, our experience with the late-night disturbance and the way it was handled would definitely give me pause before booking here again.
