“Voyages Jules Verne 2007”

I stayed here in December 2007 on a 10 day tour with the travel company Voyages Jules Verne. The rainy season was upon us, so there were very few tourists like us. I loved the fact we had to get off the bus then walk about 300 yards down ever narrowing alleyways, until we suddenly reached a 90 degr… more

Frequently asked questions about Beit Salahieh

  • What are the top guest reviews of Beit Salahieh?

The top reviews of Beit Salahieh are: I stayed here in December 2007 on a 10 day tour with the travel company Voyages Jules Verne. The rainy season was upon us, so there were very few tourists like us. I loved the fact we had to get off the bus then walk about 300 yards down ever narrowing alleyways, until we suddenly reached a 90 degree corner, in which one side of the corner was a pair of huge golden metal doors! Unable to contain my joy at realising this was our hotel, I was almost faint at the sight one inside. I will never forget the impact of the beauty in the courtyard reception area as you go in. Ahead, and up a flight of twisting and turning stairs, you can see the majesty of the Citadel peeping enticingly through the archway. I was given a room close to the reception desk, and was quite happy with it, but then, because the heating wasn't working, they moved me, no problem, to a room in the lower courtyard. It was all sooooo romantic, ethereal, and historical and I shall never forget my visit to Aleppo... its market, the churches, the Citadel and the near death ride in a so-called taxi which took 20 minutes to drive us 1/2 mile to the Baron Hotel. My heart is sad at Syria's current dilemma and the deaths and destruction of many of the the world's most beautiful and important historical sites. Mostly though I feel sorry for the poor people. We were treated with such respect everywhere we went. That kind of response to foreign tourists can't be manufactured.. it was there with all people we encountered. One day I will go back to Syria... I think all of us who have been share my sentiment..
