The hotel is a bit old and staff speaks only a little English but it works fine. Beds are comfortable according to European standards. Important to us! Breakfast is chinese style so we bought our own bread and cheese. Situated just outside the city center (Big City area) it's still walking distance. Some traffic sounds but in general quiet. Well worth its price.

I felt deceived when I arrived. The lobby was perfect - new, modern, clean - and just as advertised. But the room...that's a different story. It clearly is not new, nor clean, and has been well used by thousands before. A few details: filthy carpets; wall paper peeling off; bathroom mold (the kind that can actually be scrubbed off); dirty corners (behind the curtains, window sill); and it had no view at all - the window was laminated over. The bed was clean, comfortable, and I slept well though. Forget the western breakfast, it's 95% Asian food. They had Frosted Flakes cereal, some breads, and coffee/tea. That was it. Not even eggs (western or asian eggs! ;) For this money, and in this star range, you will fare far better at //www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g297906-d589208-Reviews-Golden_Age_Hotel-Hsinchu.html The Golden Age is an older hotel, but very well maintained with well appointed rooms.

I almost feel bad to judge this hotel as "average" because the staff is extremely friendly. But I have to be honest that this hotel might be value for money (don't remember the price). But for me this is not enough. I do not mind basic if the basic is good. But here the basic (a good night sleep, simple but clean) is not guaranteed. The rooms are very old not to clean. Beds are very hard (subjective but to hard to my taste, break a should if you drop on the bed). Empty fridge in the room is noisy. Electric toilet has all non secured cables running across the bathroom. Breakfast for me (as European) was not good as I like bread. If like garlic dumplings and vegetables you might like it.mthe style of the hotels is quite unique or funny ( a bit crazy). Internet in the room is fast and works well (and free). I have seen worse but many more better hotels and think they could do better.
