Traveled in a party of 3, so booked two rooms. Hotel looks relatively new, so are the rooms, which is good. Bathroom is really spacious, love it! Bad thing is the poor air circulation. Despite the "no smoking" sign, that rule ain't enforced as cigarette smell lingers in the common corridor, which is then brought into the room via central air conditioning system. I believe this hotel deserved a 5-star rating if it ain't for the poor air quality.

“A Rather Good Choice in Hsinchu”

Upon arrival at the Taoyuan International Airport, we joined the taxi rank and took a metered taxi to Hsinchu, NT$1,530 in 50 mins - our first visit to this 'Windy City'' (true enough, very windy indeed!). If not for this taxi ride, we may have to first take a bus, followed by a train, and finally, a short taxi ride to the Xinshe Hotel. A rather new hotel, with not too many reviews when I booked a 3 nights stay here, I took the chance and did not regret my decision. Our Twin Room was rather spacious and modern looking, with a big flat screen TV (CNN and more than 70 channels). But beds were a tad hard, though still acceptable. Bathroom was more than spacious, wasting space there ...The pillows were good, too, so is the sound proofing. There is a safe and a fridge in the room but the room aircon is controlled centrally. This had made our room rather warm but after I have closed the bathroom door, the room was much cooler for sleeping. There is also a kettle, coffee and tea sachets. Free mineral water, too. Staff are all friendly and helpful, even helping to confirm that there is a direct bus link between Hsinchu and Keelung (our next destination) - many thanks indeed! Location wise, it's may be too far to walk from the train station but there are lots of shopping and food outlets nearby the Hotel. Breakfasts were quite simple with mostly Chinese dishes. Now the slight negatives of staying here - 1. there is no second mirror in the bedroom area, so two women will have to fight for one mirror each morning while putting on make up. 2. the shower door does not have a privacy screen, so if someone is using the sink area, and when both are not a couple, this could prove embarrassing. 3. our first assign room, 703 had a leaking sink. And we were transferred to another room immediately. 4. Not enough hanging hooks for clothes on the wall. No wardrobe in Twin rooms either. 5. Only one lift to serve 11 floors of rooms. 6. serves mainly Mainland Chinese tour groups. So it could be quite chaotic in the breakfasts room. 7. only 2 pillows and 2 hangers in room. When asked for more, they were sent to us immediately - very prompt indeed! 8. Dripping water sound at night in room 705? 9. Staff could hardly cope during breakfasts resulting in offering us COLD porridge. Overall, for the price we have paid, we thought this newer Hotel represents rather good value for your money. Stay here, and you surely will not regret your choice.

Travel in 3, booked 2 person room and it can be add bed on it. Hotel looks relatively new, but the room normal. Can feel the air circulation poor. Not worth for the Value. Location : Normal Cleanliness : Normal Staff : Normal Recommend : so so only

“Fair Choice in Hsinchu ”

Stayed here three nights. Located across from CKS Stadium and within a short walk of City God Temple/food stall market. It seems to be a recently renovated hotel of 10 floors. Stayed here three nights. Located across from CKS Stadium and within a short walk of City God Temple/food stall market. It seems to be a recently renovated hotel of 10 floors. My 8th floor room overlooked the street and a school with views across the city. My room was modern with a queen size comfortable bed. The bathroom was a bit odd as it is essentially a glass cube that is part of the bedroom (partial frosted glass offers some privacy). I was alone so this was not an issue, but as a couple I would image it might be an issue. The entire hotel is non-smoking but it’s obviously not enforced as I smelled smoke wafting into my room on two separate occasions. Breakfast was included in my rate. Although most of the offerings were geared to Asian tastes, there were a couple of Western options. Front desk staff were efficient but lacked any friendly/personable qualities - a smile goes a long way, folks! For the price it’s a decent option, but otherwise nothing memorable.
