Fish Hotel Hualien

“Good location”

Nothing to shout about on the hotel except their name. Great location and most important it is clean. Walking distance to food and their local delicacies / food souvenir. We stayed for 3D2N, and have use this hotel basically for resting/base.

We stayed only one night at this hotel and the overall experience wasn't impressing. I won't stay here again as you can find better place with the same budget. Positive 1. Location: It's right in the center of the city, 5 mins walk to everything yet not noisy. 2. Staff: They were somewhat friendly. Negative 1. Bed: It was the most uncomfortable bed we slept on during our 5-day trip in Eastern Taiwan. 2. WIFI: poor connection 3.Bathroom: you could tell it's old 4. Breakfast: Lots of options but really poor quality

“Good Hotel, again beware the China Tour Group”

Location is good, just a minute walk to Mcdonald and the town center where the price of clothes etc is as cheap as night market. Upon check in at 3pm, was given the 5th floor room with balcony. Thought it is gonna be a good stay for 2 nights but when exit the lift, the entire 5th floor is completely dark (no lights in the corridor) and realise something amiss as all the rooms except ours are all opened up for the natural lighting from the outside window. Sensing something weird, we did not take notice until 7pm.... Here comes the China Tour Group!!! At least 10 groups stayed in this 9 storey hotel! At 5.30am, the group starts to jostile their way out with plenty of noice and crowd the breakfast area.. until 8.30am. When we return at 4pm, were a bit worried as the front entrance Door (not a glass door) was closed!!! How can a hotel closed up the front entrance door and we thought we reach a wrong place?? I guess they don't really need walk in customers as the China Group is enough to cover their expenses... Room is tiled (not carpet), Breakfast was pale, room beds are comfortable, tv has english channels and shower is powerfull. The staff help us by diverting the tour groups away from our room after we requested and not much service though....they do see us waiting for a cab but no help to get one for us, we need to run to the main road for one after waiting more than 10minutes. Will not stay there again as the Azure Hotel located near this hotel offer a better rate (TWD2160 per night as hanged in their external wall)

This is a weird hotel that seems to also be known as the Fish Hotel and has fish motifs everywhere. Got a room on the 5th floor which had a verandah big enough for a party! Only seemed to four of the kinds of rooms! Room was large and seemed clean on first appearance. Later I noticed quite a few insects around the work desk and kettle area.. Bathroom is good and had a tub and shower. There is free wifi but it can be very tempremental in the rooms, sometimes taking a while to connect. The lobby wifi is much more reliable. Breakfast is served very early from 4.30 and finishes by 9 - neither day did I make it there! My main grumbles are: 1. The bed and pillow were very hard. Woke up with a stiff neck during the first night. 2. The hotel is full of mainland Chinese tour groups who are so inconsiderate and are quite happy to yell and shout along the corridor before 7am without thought for other guests. My friend also nearly got hit by a cigarette butt thrown from the hotel window when we were standing outisde - despite being non-smoking. Best point of the hotel is that it is in the heart of Hualien and easy to get around and see the city. If you want a fantastic vegetarian meal head to Kimseki - a meal unlike I've had!
