“Five star in relaxing Hualien”

Location: next to a 18 hole golf course, about 10-15 min drive southward to downtown. Hillside serenity, albeit with less dining choices. Rooms: old recent-remodeled 5 star hotel, so rooms are large compared to modern hotels. Beds comfy, partial seaview ok, electric outlets on both sides of bed. Bedside chairs table could be better quality. Harnn toiletries give off relaxing holiday vibe. Facilities: nice big pool with lots of loungers, large kids center with climbing wall, and other interactive games will keep a preteen for 1-2 days. Staff: friendly, helpful.

“Nice stay”

Huge hotel with a wonderful pool and an amazing park. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. They rent bicycles for a little fee. Breakfast was a little limited for vegetarians.

This was a good base for our visit to the Taroko Gorge. Our twin room was large and clean with great views of the mountains. The bathroom was particularly nice and we were intrigued with the automated toilet! The hotel is obviously popular with families with young children and there was a popular activity room - we were unsuccessful at getting a table tennis table! The pool though was not too busy and lovely. It stayed open until 10pm and we enjoyed swimming at night. Hats are compulsory which European guests might not realise. I think it would be a good idea to have spares on hand. I was told by the pool attendants I would have to go and buy one. As I was stood there in my swim suit, I did not fancy trailing back into the hotel to the shop. The attendant was adamant he did not have a spare hat but after an uncomfortable stand off he relented and produced one from behind the bar. Not very classy for a 5* hotel. Another weird thing about the pool was a pool side worker who was hosing the pool side including our bags, my shoes and a pair of expensive looking Birkenstock type shoes - fortunately not mine. As I was only on a brief stay these were my only shoes and were soaked! Never mind - I still enjoyed the pool. The water was warm and it was just the right depth for swimmers and youngsters. Food at the hotel was a buffet which suited us and the range and quality was good. Breakfast was busy but also ok. The hotel is about a 10 minute ride from the railway station. There is a shuttle bus which needs to be booked. We decided to hike there which was probably a mad thing to do but we climbed up through a park, saw great views and really enjoyed it - it took about 1 1/2 hours. All in all we enjoyed our stay here and I would recommend.
