Love coming back to Silks Place Taroko, it truly feels like home. Beautiful mountain views, relaxing activities, and the kindest people. Such a great place to slow down and just enjoy the moment. Can’t wait to come back again.

We stayed at Silks in Taroko Gorge for two nights in December 2025 and thought it was worth our time, effort, and money despite the trail closures. The hotel was clean, comfortable, high end, and had great staff. Yeah, the meals on site are a bit pricey, but overall worth it (I mean, look at what you’re getting in a location that’s a bit remote). There was a wiiiiide range of options at the buffets- certainly enough to hold our interest for more that two nights. And having weathered a 5.3 earthquake quite comfortably in our room, I think we can vouch for Silks’ structural integrity 😀. The drive in is metered due to road closure/construction, and the hotel will tell you the options for when to drive in. When we went, the cars lined up at the Shakadang Tunnel entrance, just past the Taroko National Park Visitor Center. We thought the drive in and out was gorgeous. The rock faces and marble are quite striking. We were lucky enough to have a mixture of sunlight and clouds. The Tabiduo trail behind the hotel seems open (even though one of us wasn’t feeling the “scramble up the rock face using chains” part, so we didn’t do more than a short bit of it). We were able to fill our time walking up to and visiting Xiangde Temple, walking around Tianxiang, and using the hotel’s great amenities (rooftop pool, hot tubs, indoor pool, and ping pong and billiard tables, sauna, etc.). Patty at the gift shop, and Ben and Judy at the front desk were super and even managed to run down a specific diet soda for us, haha. So, will you have an epic hiking trip there? Probably not for several more years. But you can definitely have a relaxing stay and get a feel for the majesty of the place.

Really loved this hotel in Taroko. It is a real family resort with loads for the kids but the effort they go to for classes, firepits, evening cinema, happy hour with drinks and popcorn is really lovely. Set in the middle of the gorge there are limited walks open at the moment (April 2026) but it is still worth a stop. There is a lovely rooftop pool with comfy beds and three jacuzzi baths in what is an incredible setting. If you can, get a gorge room as the views are stunning. Breakfast and dinner buffet are great and after experiencing a few other similar hotels in taiwan, this restaurant is a lot more civilised for a buffet. Really good quality food and a room that felt like a restaurant rather than a canteen. Also decent wine on a wine list. The staff are really lovely too, can't do enough for you but not overly intrusive. Right from reception to housekeeping to the life guards at the pool. There is a happy hour at 4.30 with complimentary drinks and popcorn. Really well managed hotel, thank you for a lovely stay.

“Unfriendly welcome.”

We stayed here one night in April 2026 in a 2 person room with gorge view. Although we booked and paid for a stay including dinner, the latter was not known by Reception. After this was solved by our guide, we learned we could only eat at 19.30. Everything was mentioned as a fact, without any apologies. On the internet we found out that this happened to other people as well: large groups seem to get priority in the restaurant and if you do not travel as part of a large group you are only welcome after the large groups had dinner. In our opinion an unacceptable policy! At 18.00 we solved this by bluffing our way into the buffet restaurant where we noticed many available seats. The buffet was excellent although expensive (more than TWD 1500 per person). The corridors where the rooms are don’t look very attractive: dark brown carpet and poor lighting. Luckily our room was more attractive: spacious with a wooden floor and with a view on the gorge. The room has airconditioning, a tv, a minibar, watercooker and Nespresso coffee machine. And also a machine with an unknown purpose because all instructions were in Chinese (dehumidifier maybe?). The hotel has water dispensers where you can (without any charge) refill your bottles with drinking water. The bathroom has one sink, a bath and a separate shower. The bed, shower and WiFi are good. The lighting could be better. breakfast buffet is excellent.
