What can i say, i spend more days in this Hotel then i have spend home this year. I must confess that the Kapok hotel in Ludoong - Yilan County is a excellent Hotel, and i will return to it as soon as i will visit Luodong. The Hotel Staff has been real great to me, and they always did their very best to make me feel home. This Hotel and its staff gets from my side the highest application i could give them.... because i simply never experienced a better comfort factor. 1 thing people should be aware off is... there is no dinner possible in this Hotel, but that should be not a problem at all because there are so many possibilities to eat and drink in the near.... nearly insane. Luodong lives from early in the morning till 22:00. This little town gives you the ultimate impression how the people are from this district.... just awesome!

“Spacious Rooms in a great location”

Stayed in Yilan for 2 nights in November 2017. Arrived late in the evening at 7pm a fast check-in even though the reception was manned by only 1 lady. She was always smiling even though she had to guide cars to park, answer guests queries, prepare check-in etc. We stayed in 2 rooms (Twin Sharing [501] and Triple Sharing [506]) on the 5th floor - there are only 5 rooms per floor. Kapok Hotel & Resorts is a small hotel located right behind Luo Dong Night Market, around corner from a 24hours Watsons. The location is ideal as you can get your Lunch, Dinner as well as lots of shopping done right around the hotel. Kapok also has a small dining area for breakfast at the lobby, toilets near the reception and a stack parking system for guests who drive. There are no other amenities in this hotel but you can always take a walk in the nearby park and take in the sights of views of Yilan. The hotel lobby looks fresh and newly renovated and the hotel rooms looks very spacious and quite new at first sight. Upon closer inspection, the Triple Sharing room [506] have minor issues such as: poor lighting (same for [501]), poor Cable TV connection (same for [501]), broken shower head, broken emergency torchlight and a safe box with flat battery. We only noticed these defects later in the night after visiting Luo Dong Night Market so the reception was informed the next morning. The receptionist offered to change another Triple Room for us but we didn't want the hassle of packing so they rectified most of the problems while we were out for the day - they couldn't fix the lights and the TV. For both the rooms, the toilets don't have conventional doors - they had sliding glass panels with only an opaque mid section. Some guests might not be comfortable with this if they are sharing rooms with friends/colleagues etc. The toilet also has a large bathtub with no separate standing shower - it was quite hard for older people to climb in and out of the bathtub. A plus point would be that you can actually turn on the heater/ventilation in the toilet to keep the area warm when you come out of a shower. [501] has windows which overlooks the streets while [506] only has another sliding door at the toilet which leads out to a small outdoor balcony. The outdoor balcony looks run-down and faces a neighbouring building which is an arm's length away. We kept the balcony locked as it looks like someone can just climb in through with minimal effort. Our rooms had breakfast inclusive so we ate in the hotel for both days. On day 1, the hotel prepared set breakfast and on day 2 they provided a full buffet spread. The breakfast was quite tasty and the staff were always attentive even though there was only 2 Cooks and 1 Receptionist at the busiest period. Guests are also supposed to leave their room key cards at the Reception when they leave for a day tour - only to pick up a new set of key cards when they return for the night. In summary, Kapok has great service staff and spacious rooms in an awesome location. It is a good hotel for a good night's rest. They just need to spend a little more effort in the maintenance of the room conditions.

Lotung town itself is not a very developed township. When you do hotel searching in this area, not many options were found. The location is great. Since it's right behind the most important attract in town, the night market (only 1 mins walk). The hotel itself feels like renovated from a building originally with other use. It's a bit old and the cleaniness is just so-so. The bed was large and comfortable and room was spacious. Wifi could merely connect and breakfast area was kind of chaotic during the peak hours with limited choices. It was alright for short stay since we only stopped by Lotung for 1 night in our trip. Still, the rate is a bit too high.
