A corner of peace, a beautiful small resort where every room is carefully mantained: very different from the large resorts that offer anonymous luxury. Here, everything is tailored to "the guest": if there is a problem, the staff is always available and ready to take care of it. Smiles and kindness are never lacking. A special mention goes to the cuisine: excellent ingredients, well cooked and beautifully presented dishes. Probably it's thanks to the italian manager Betty, who is always smiling and helpful - even with guests who just looks for reasons to complain (and then want red wine in the ice bucket!!!). Recommended to those who want to avoid horders of ordinary tourists and truly enjoy this paradise, where the sea puts on a show and the guests can fully experience it through snorkeling and diving as well as swimming with whale sharks. The rooms are spacious and set far apart from one other: privacy guaranteed! The presence of the Masai guarentees a quiet and fascinating sense of security. The resort can easily be explored on foot, but since it is built on a slope with steps, it not suitable for stroller or wheelchairs. There is a beautiful little beach with mangroves in the sea, but as typical in these places, the sea is affected by the tides, so it can be enjoyed at certain times of the day. The water is warm, and the seabed is sandy and full of shells, so water shoes are recommended for walking along the beach.

The Lodge is very very nice, the gardens and the landscape in general is gorgeous, you can see the owners take lot of care for details. The Lodge is very very nice, the gardens and the landscape in general is gorgeous, you can see the owners take lot of care for details. Bungalow are spacious and comfy, perfect air con, great bathroom. The food was very good also, kind of fixed menu that we did appreciate because it was always fresh and well prepared, with lot of seafood, and we loved also the local recipies! the staff was kind and all of them look happy to work there......... the feeling is that of a big family probably thanks also to Betty, the italian manager, treating everyone with kindness and respect. She was always present for us, always very available. We had a great time all in all!

Dear Peter and Kinasi Lodge staff Earlier this year (February) we visited Mafia island on an almost 2 week long trip and stayed at the lodge the entire time. We have since talked about our great experiences there many times. First and foremost everyone in the staff was kind, helpful and service minded. The food was excellent and we still talk about the lovely Swahili meal that was prepared just for us after asking what was a traditional meal on the island. The lodge itself was well maintained and neat and clean. Our room was nice and spacious, with a/c and a fan. Excursions were nice, especially the one to Chobe island and of course the whale sharks that we were lucky to see on several occasions. Last but not least (from Lena), thank you to everyone for bearing with my (very) broken Swahili. Asanteni na kila la heri! I first stayed at Kinasi Lodge in 2010, and returning now has been a wonderful surprise. The lodge looks much more luxurious and comfortable than before. The rooms have been upgraded with new windows that are hermetically sealed, keeping mosquitoes and insects out, and each room now has air conditioning, making sleep much more pleasant. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the food is excellent. Breakfast is perfect, with a great variety every morning. The chef bakes the best bread I’ve tasted during my whole trip to Tanzania.
