“Fabulous, entertaining hotel near to the airport”

We stayed at the Ammata Lanta for one night as we had an early flight the next morning. Couldn't get closer to the airport! So it amazes me when some reviewers complain of the noise from aeroplanes?🤔At least the hotel provide earplugs! Our room was amazing, but then we had a free upgrade which we were both surprised and appreciative of. Fabulous room! Had everything you could need plus a pool and sun loungers! The whole complex is whacky, i think someone on acid must have designed it, so entertaining, we loved it! We had the gimmicky ride on the ‘golf cart’ from reception to our room, a welcome cooling cloth and drink, the staff were fabulous! The reception and restaurant were FULL of antiques, the whole area was a bit like Disney land. There was a restaurant/ bar onsite with lovely food and another restaurant with entertainment close by. I believe a taxi would be needed to explore anywhere apart from the complex. I would love to take advantage and stay longer but for me the closeness to the airport make it perfect for that over night stay and would definitely return

Has the place seen better days? Yes, it has. Overall, though, my wife and I were very happy with our three-day stay there. The man who built the place obviously spared no expense and has a very eclectic taste in art which was interesting to see. It’s only around ten years old and staff explained that it never really recovered after covid reduced guest numbers. I'd suggest another issue is the end of hub and spoke model of air travel, which means people from some countries who used to spend time in Bangkok before flying down south, just bypass it now and take a direct flight straight there. We stayed in a Grand Pool Villa and liked the room very much. It was clean and everything worked. Finding no phones in the room and having to contact reception via WhatsApp was a bit weird, but we quickly got used to it, and staff were brilliant and went into action to help with anything the second you contacted them. The staff were Also very helpful in other ways, for example, the driver of the little carts they use to ferry guests and their luggage around saw us walking up to the local 7-11 and quickly caught up and gave us a lift. Another time I was walking the grounds in bare feet and a staff member ran overt to me and offered to get me some slippers or sandles. The only downside would be for people who hate aeroplane noise. It’s very close to the airport and the new third runway’s flightpath is directly over the hotel. The rooms seems pretty well sound insulated but if sitting by the pool a jet coming into land at 300m above your head can be pretty loud. I can only imagine what it would be like if the prevailing winds reversed and they were taking off. I happen to be an aeroplane nut since childhood so loved it. If you’re not am aeroplane lover it might get on your nerves. Overall, we loved the place and would return.

“Lovely hotel and great staff”

It was a little noisy but with BKK airport behind you this is to be expected. Breakfast was very good, staff very helpful and a free lift to BKK airport was a nice touch. Very good place and I’d certainly stay again

The hotel is really unusual, with fascinating art and spacious rooms. We stayed as a transit option and, for this, it’s fine. The staff are fantastic and really helpful, and breakfast was nice. The pool area is also fine. However, as with some other reviews, the property is a little tired and needs some love and care. There is also not a gym, so they shouldn’t be advertising otherwise. There is what’s referred to as a fitness room, which is a small number of extremely old weights which, in some cases, are unusable. But ultimately the pros outweigh the cons for an airport transit hotel.
