“Lovely place to stay”

Just stayed at the Baan Rai Lanna Resort, for 3 nights with my family (husband and kids 11 and 6. Just stayed at the Baan Rai Lanna Resort, for 3 nights with my family (husband and kids 11 and 6. My mother and father and my father and mother in law) we stayed in 3 of there rooms, the place has a charm about it like stepping back in time but in a good way no tv, wifi wasn't good, which we didn't mind as we all wanted to relax away from all that. The evening meal was the gem in the rough tho really lovely food, and the staff were friendly and helpful. So happily go back again.

Stopped here during a solo bike trip in the province during the low season. No other rooms were occupied. Beautiful, tranquil setting, but could use come upgrades. Staff and service good and friendly, but not much english is spoken. Food very well prepared to order. Room was decent size, a/c adequate, shower decent size and good water pressure. Nice pool, but they have ratty cushions on the two lounge chairs - also noted previously by SarahB, but the view is great and the water refreshing.

This resort has the potential to be wonderful, a real secluded hideaway for those looking to escape the city for a few days, sadly it was a bit of a disappointment. The resort itself has a rustic charm and the staff are pleasant. The sounds of nature are wonderful and the atmosphere is relaxed and calm. Our little bungalow was very simple, but clean, a good size and comfortable with chairs on the balcony to relax out of the midday sun. Now for the problems: The pool area looks great in the pictures but is actually extremely run down. The sun loungers are wooden and due to being left out in all weather conditions are rotten. Two sun loungers had mattresses on them for comfort - since we were the only two guests (being low season) we assumed the staff had put them out for us to enjoy. Well after sitting down for 10 minutes I realised there were a few ants starting to walk on my legs, so I got up to discover at the end of the lounger hundreds of ants walking around as there appeared to be an ants nest in the mattress. In addition, my towel was wet from where I had sat on it, but I hadn't been in the pool yet. Turns out the mattresses weren't put out for our arrival, they'd obviously been sitting there for some time as they were sodden wet from the recent rains. Which was adding to, or the result of, the rotting sun lounger issue. When we informed the manager he immediately came to look, apologised and removed them. BUT there were no replacements provided, and no other options for sitting by the pool to relax. So we either had to sit on hard wooden rotten sun loungers, or .... ??? We decided to bring the chairs over from our balcony which whilst not as comfortable, at least enabled us to continue relaxing by the pool which is the best place from a view perspective. My point is, the pool area overall needs a major overhaul for guests to be able to enjoy spending time there. Another gripe, was that given it's rainy season and being in the nature there were A LOT of huge mosquitoes (not the resorts problem obviously) but since the restaurant is completely open to the elements, mosquitoes are very prevalent at dinner time. Of course we had mosiguard to protect us, but the enjoyment factor of sitting down to a meal was lost as we both just wanted to finish out meal as quickly as possible to escape the buzzing and get back to the security of our cabin. A simple solution that could be offered by the resort are mosquito coils under the tables. This would at least diminish their presence somewhat and allow guests to enjoy their evening meal - as much as possible anyway as the food is very basic, particularly for the price. So overall it wasn’t quite the relaxing getaway we were hoping for. We were disappointed with the pool facilities, food standard and the lack of focus (from the owner / management) on guests needs.
