I stayed at this hotel for a 4 night Father and Daughter trip to Istanbul in June, and was surprised by both the City and this property alike. I booked a Classic Room using points, and then applied a confirmable suite upgrade taking me to a Junior Suite. Upon arrival, my Diamond Ambassador status was immediately picked up by Mehmet, and I was upgraded to a sea view corner Business Suite. My daughter, who is also an Ambassador member, received an upgrade to a sea view room. Many thanks Mehmet for your professionalism in this regard. Rooms were immaculately presented, and all of the standard benefits offered without request. Breakfast was buffet style with an extensive range of hot and cold food options, and the staff were always at hand to assist. The bar at the top of the hotel is particularly noteworthy, with superb views of the river and sea along its entire length. The hotel is situated atop a hill close to the nearby Besiktas J.K football stadium, and is within walking distance of a number of Palaces, Mosques and the Western bank of the Bosphorus River. There is a subway station a mere 250m from the hotel, from which you can reach the old city in a matter of minutes. Here you will find the Blue Mosque, Royal Palace and the phenomenal Basilica Cistern (seen in 007 from Russia with love and the second Da Vinci film, Inferno). There are many other sites to see and explore in this area, along with shops and restaurants of all varieties. If you prefer to ride the tram back to the hotel, there is a terminus a mere 300m from the football stadium, though the walk back up the hill in summer heat is not for the faint hearted!! Taxis are however in abundance here, and for a cost of around $5.00, you may choose to opt for the air conditioned alternative. We utilized taxis and public transport throughout our stay, and the cross river ferry ride to the Asian side was comparable to the Star Ferry in HK at around a Dollar. If you prefer a longer river sightseeing trip, then this can be in the form of a dinner cruise or more intimate private yacht cruise, which takes around 2 hours and takes in breathtaking sites on both the Western and Eastern shores of the river. Sunset cruises are to be particularly recommended. I must confess that this is one of the best Intercontinental hotels I have stayed in, and I look forward to returning again in the near future. We had a three night stay here pre-cruise and loved the hotel. Extremely clean and welcoming. We were upgraded (IHG Ambassador) and had a room on the club level. All of the club space was on the lobby level and the evening cocktails and light bites were fantastic. Breakfast (also included) was very extensive with all of the normal offerings and many Turkish options. There is also a rooftop restaurant and bar which along with the view, was amazing. The room was very large with a good view of the Bosphorus. The highlight was the staff who were very accommodating and helpful including the concierge that took care of anything I requested. Thank you. I would definitely stay here on another visit to IST.

From the moment we arrived, the InterContinental Istanbul delivered exactly what a five-star hotel should: immaculate rooms, impeccably trained staff, and seamless service throughout our two-night stay. Not a single issue from check-in to check-out — every interaction was professional and efficient. We split our four-night Istanbul stay between two hotels — two nights at the InterContinental first, then two nights at another so-called five-star property in the old city. I’ll be honest — I personally prefer the old city to Taksim. Yet despite that, I would choose the InterContinental again without hesitation, because the quality and professionalism here simply cannot be compromised on. Some things matter more than location. We will be back.

We want to express our thanks and gratitude for a truly enjoyable stay at your hotel. Once again we enjoyed very much the warmth, kind and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel and it’s staff. It was wonderful to be able to relax and enjoy the comfort of your hotel. The upgraded room with walk-in shower was highly appreciated! The breakfast staff was so kind and professional and the availability of so many food choices in the morning was a splendid experience. The staff was very kind and attentive. The support at check-in and the advice provided by the concierges was highly appreciated. This was also true for the attentive support of mr Osman during his shifts in the breakfast area and in the club lounge. Thanks also to the cleaning staff for ensuring our room was tidy and taken care of every day again! We are truly very grateful to mrs Zeynep, her kind warm smile and her caring spirit were a joy to experience every day again. Her devotion is heartwarming. The access to the club lounge was also most appreciated and the staff was so kind and supportive every day again and again! While all club lounge staff members were kind and supportive we wanted to express our special thanks to a few people in particular. Mrs Victoria is an exceptionally professional, warm and kind host and her support, kindness and understanding are truly unique! The other person is mr Eren who also provided such personal and attentive support, his keen eye for detail and relentless efforts are remarkable!
