The Hotel is amazing , great property, beautifully renovated and refurbished to a very high standard. This is the best hotel in Istanbul I have stayed at, and over the years I have stayed in most of the major hotel brands on both the European and Asian side. It’s also the best Marriott luxury collection hotel I have stayed in globally. It’s in a great location with tram approx 1 min walk away, and Eminonu ferry station / port approx 5 min walk away. There are excellent cafes ( e.g. Viyana Kahvesi - must try Sebastian Cheescake with Belgian Choc it’s amazing) places for quick bites nearby. All the staff were really polite and welcoming , they all provided excellent hospitality and customer experience while we there. We were fortunate enough to meet the General Manager and she took the time to talk to us which was really nice of her. She has really infused excellent customer service / experience within all the staff in the hotel they are a great team who really make your stay special. A few names we have to call are, Ridwan checked us in and he was extremely polite and helpful and gave us advice on things to do. Vehbi and Mustafa would always help you with anything you needed. Security would always welcome you and open the door for you when you left and returned to the hotel. The staff in reception would always say hello , I know these seem small things but this made our stay special as they remembered your names and would always greet / help you with a smile. Stephan who provides the evening house keeping / turn down service was excellent and would always give you anything you needed including extra water and lovely macarons. There are many other staff members we interacted with whose names we don’t know but everyone was really polite and helpful. Breakfast is excellent , really high quality, Enes and Can both really make your experience seamless. When they weren’t at breakfast you would see the difference as they made a point to remember your name and recalled the items you liked and made excellent recommendation of what food to try. The chef would make the most amazing eggs whether Poached, Eggs Benedict, menemen, and omelette they were to perfection. The Acme bagel was unique and really nice with Turkish Kaymak and Honey comb. We didn’t venture out for breakfast as the breakfast at the hotel was delicious and top notch. We were celebrating a special anniversary and were able to stay in the Han suite which was really spacious , lovely bathroom , large living room, cosy bedroom, all beautifully decorated , excellent amenities and all rooms have triple glazed windows so you can’t hear any noise from the street outside. We were there for 8 nights and wish we could have stayed longer , we were sad to leave this beautiful hotel and the beautiful city of Istanbul.. Sanasaryan Han is a gorgeous hotel very centrally located in Istanbul's old city. Bookable through Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts and Marriott, value and perks abound for Amex Platinum cardholders. The room felt a little generic and physical amenities were slightly lacking, but these shortcomings were made up for with stellar service. Check in: We arrived around midday after an early flight. Our room was immediately available, and staff were kind enough to upgrade us to a Grand Deluxe room. As seems to be the norm with hotels and attractions in the area, you had to go through a metal detector upon entering the hotel. Staff made this a very seamless process, taking our bags and running them through the x-ray machine while we got settled in the lobby. Room: The room was exactly what I would expect at a five-star Marriott property. The space was well lit, and the bathroom and closets were spacious. There was a beautiful traditional Turkish tea set in the room, one of my favorite features. However, the space felt very generic in such a historic setting. Other than the tea set, I felt as though I could have been anywhere else in the world. The room also lacked a view, which contributed to the lack of local character. While there was more than enough space, it could have been used more efficiently if the room were not shaped with a weird corner near the entrance. Amenities: Physical amenities at this hotel are generally lacking. There is no spa, gym, or pool, which makes sense given the density of the neighborhood. The onsite restaurant and library bar were good but not standout, though the included breakfast (an Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts benefit) was delicious and comprehensive. The lack of physical amenities are made up for by what the hotel staff call "epicurean rituals," including a neighborhood tour by the concierge, a "stamp ritual" to send postcards home, and a formal Turkish tea ceremony. All of these were highlights of our visit, and a great way to pass the time when many attractions were closed for Eid. Service: The service was the highlight of our stay. Our concierge, Yigit, went above and beyond to ensure that we were taken care of. He brought us on a tour of the neighborhood, and when we expressed that we liked the traditional teacups and tea, he procured them for us to take home. Housekeeping and restaurant staff were also stellar, greeting us with a smile and offering recommendations for what to eat and where to go. Bottom Line: At its core, Sanasaryan Han is a luxury Marriott property and certainly feels like one. This has its strengths, like remarkable consistency, at the cost of some lost local charm. However, staff went truly above and beyond to make our stay a successful one, and I would go back in a heartbeat.

This is probably one of the best Marriott- affiliated property I have been to. We traveled as a family of 3 and all the details were arranged ahead of time, including having a rollaway bed ready when we arrived late at night. The concierge proactively reached out via email and promptly answered all our questions about the hotel and Istanbul. They really made the trip above and beyond. Turkish breakfast was fantastic and included as a platinum benefit! The hotel is also situated within basically 10-15min walk in any direction to the man sights, tram, ferries etc. Would definitely recommend and return next time!
