It’s a wonderful place to relax and unwind, and we truly loved the setting, the staff, and the overall purpose of the retreat. However, it would have been helpful to be informed in advance that there is no WiFi in the rooms and that the food options are exclusively vegetarian/vegan. We really loved the breakfast though. Overall, it was a very positive experience.

“A Beautiful Natural Escape with Significant Room for Improvement”

I recently stayed at Nirvana Retreat and wanted to share my feedback. On the positive side, the location is truly beautiful. Spending a day surrounded by nature and animals like ostriches, emus, deer, and ducks roaming freely was a highlight. We also enjoyed seeing the horses and Arabian Oryx. The food was excellent—while the buffet selection was limited, the quality was great, especially the idli, sambar, vermicelli upma, and croissants. It’s an amazing spot for families and children who love nature. However, there were several issues during our stay in the Deluxe Room that did not meet our expectations for this room category: Room Maintenance: The sliding doors for both the bathroom and the balcony were very difficult to operate and, more importantly, could not be locked. Cleanliness & Amenities: We found the coffee cups and bath mat to be stained upon arrival. Tissues were missing from the bathroom, and the shower water pressure was low and inconsistent. Technical Issues: The TV was initially not working; while it was eventually looked at, it remained unreliable throughout our stay. Pest Control (Flies): There was a significant issue with flies, particularly around the animals and the dining area. Because the buffet was displayed outdoors, the flies around the food raised some hygiene concerns for us. We suggest moving the food service to an enclosed area. Service: We found it quite difficult to reach the reception, as calls often went unanswered. The retreat has so much potential because of its stunning environment, but the maintenance and service standards need to be addressed to match the beauty of the location.

My recent stay at Nirvana Retreat started on a wonderful note. From the moment I arrived, the reception team welcomed me warmly, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient. Although my room was small, it was cozy and tastefully decorated, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a birthday cake arranged for me. This thoughtful gesture made the stay feel special. The retreat itself is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by nature and lovely animal areas with deer, ostriches, and horses. Walking around the hub and the property was relaxing. On Day 1 and Day 2 (21st and 22nd November), the staff—especially those at the hub and reception—were kind, attentive, and courteous. This short break meant a lot to me, as I have been dealing with physical and mental stress over the past few days, including asthma and bronchitis, and I wanted time to disconnect and focus on myself. However, my experience changed on Day 3 (23rd November), which was disappointing and needs to be highlighted. During breakfast, I asked a lady staff member for warm water or any hot drink to ease my persistent cough. She assisted me kindly and suggested peppermint tea, which I appreciated. After breakfast, I went to the counter to request a takeaway latte. No one acknowledged me despite me standing there for a while. When I finally asked, the male staff member who heard me did not respond and instead served another guest. He then placed a box of tea bags in front of me, which made me think he was preparing my latte and I could choose tea if I wanted. I picked up two lemon-ginger tea bags and one peppermint tea bag, which I held openly in my hand; I did not hide them (this can also be verified on CCTV). Another staff member even said the peppermint tea might help my cough. As I turned to sit and wait, the male staff member suddenly called out loudly, “Hello madam,” in front of other guests, questioning whether I was taking the tea bags. His tone and body language were sharp and confrontational. He then said, “You’re not allowed to take these to the room,” in a manner that felt disrespectful, as if I was doing something wrong. I put the tea bags back immediately, feeling embarrassed and confused. Nevertheless, I asked while keeping them back, if I could at least have one peppermint tea bag, and he replied reluctantly, “If you want, here I will serve…” Otherwise, madam, I am sorry; it’s not allowed.” His choice of words and attitude felt rude and dismissive. What made this worse was finding later that similar lemon-ginger tea bags were already provided in our room. I found it like, what is the big deal for him if I take a tea bag? Even if it's policy at Nirvana Retreat not to take a tea bag to the room, his unprofessional and poor hospitality behavior was not acceptable. The inconsistency made his reaction feel unnecessary and unprofessional. The same staff member had been friendly on Day 1, even chatting with us about our stay and the birthday cake and even mentioning during our conversation that he was from Dehradun, while serving us the dinner in a friendly manner. Yet over something as minor as tea bags, his behavior on Day 3 was loud, dismissive, and completely opposite to what I experienced earlier. The second issue was the birthday arrangements. My friend emailed the retreat in advance asking if any birthday amenities could be arranged. There was no reply, no confirmation, and no indication that anything would be chargeable. Throughout the stay, no one informed us about any cost for the birthday setup. Naturally, based on my experiences in many 4- and 5-star hotels, I assumed it was a complimentary gesture. To be asked to pay for it only at the time of checkout was surprising and disappointing. When I questioned the charge, the response was simply, “Madam, it is chargeable,” without any explanation for the lack of communication. Another concern was that there was no Wi-Fi available in the room, which was very inconvenient. Even for a simple email, I had to walk to the hub, and for a short 15-minute Teams meeting, I also had to sit there. Although the hub is a nice space, it is often busy with people, and it is definitely not a quiet or comfortable place to attend calls or focus on any work during the day. This made basic communication and work tasks unnecessarily difficult during my stay Overall, Nirvana Retreat is a stunning place with a peaceful environment and some genuinely kind staff members. My first two days were wonderful and restful. But the experience on the third day—especially the way I was spoken to in front of other guests and staff—was upsetting and created a strong negative impression. The lack of clear communication regarding the birthday arrangements added to the disappointment. I hope my feedback helps the management improve consistency, communication, and staff behavior for future guests.
