What an incredible hotel to stay at. The staff were so accommodating to our requests. The food was divine and the drinks were made to our specific requirements. Our room was lovely with the most amazing view of the countryside and the hot tub was clean and ready to go. Overall we really tried to pick holes in our stay bit we couldn't. Just shows how good the staff and management are there. Thank you. X

Having enjoyed several visits in recent years, we have found that standards just keep on improving. The staff are friendly, attentive and efficient and (this is worth noting) actually seem to enjoy their jobs ! Of particular note to my wife and I was that, having been informed of some allergy;sensitivity issues, the kitchen produced a series of truly excellent meals. Compliments to the Chef, indeed !!

We recently stayed overnight as a party of four in one of the Mews rooms with a hot tub, and overall there were some absolutely fantastic aspects to our stay, alongside a few things that unfortunately really let the experience down. Firstly, the staff were exceptional. Every member of staff we encountered was extremely polite, attentive and helpful. Whenever we raised an issue, it was dealt with quickly and with genuine apologies. I want to make it very clear that none of the negatives from our stay are a reflection on the staff themselves — their service was faultless. The hotel and its surroundings are absolutely beautiful. Everything is decorated wonderfully, the whole place was exceptionally clean, and it really does feel like somewhere special. The food was another huge highlight. The portion sizes were incredibly generous and every single thing on our plates tasted amazing. The cocktails were also beautiful, freshly made and really added to the experience. Unfortunately, our accommodation didn't quite live up to the same standard. We booked for four people and were made aware beforehand that one of the beds would be a sofa bed, which we were completely happy with. However, considering the amount of money we paid for the overnight stay, the quality of the sofa-bed mattress was simply not acceptable. It was so uncomfortable that we genuinely discussed whether sleeping on the cushioned sun loungers by the pool would be a better option! We weren't expecting a sofa bed to offer the same experience as a luxury hotel bed, but we did expect a reasonable level of comfort given the price and standard of the hotel. Despite the reservation clearly being for four guests, the room also appeared to have only been prepared for two. There were two mugs, two robes, etc., which meant having to contact staff again to make sure there was enough for all four of us. The staff sorted this extremely quickly, but it was something that really should have been taken care of before our arrival. We also had an issue with the shower temperature, which would fluctuate from tepid to absolutely scorching despite nobody else in the room using taps, toilets or any other water source at the time. This made showering quite unpleasant and potentially unsafe. When we raised our concerns, the staff were incredibly apologetic and attentive, and again, I cannot fault the way they handled the situation. Overall, there is so much this hotel gets right. The setting is beautiful, the cleanliness is exceptional, the food and cocktails are fantastic, and the staff are an absolute credit to the hotel. However, when you're paying a premium price for an overnight spa stay, the accommodation needs to match that standard too. Unfortunately, the sofa-bed mattress, room being prepared for only two of the four booked guests, and the shower issue meant the room itself fell short of what we expected for the price. With those relatively straightforward issues addressed, this could have been an outstanding stay rather than one that left us feeling slightly disappointed.
