Fabulous !!!! Yes Fabulous. What an incredible house Set in beautiful grounds A warm and friendly welcome. After checking in to our wonderful Room with the most gorgeous views, we sat in the gardens and had a cheeseboard and a few glasses of wine An hour or 2 to relax before changing for dinner this was a fantastic experience as we were attending a murder mystery ,wonderful Guests at our Table. All of the staff were professional polite absolutely immaculate in appearance with wonderful warm smiles and a sense of humour The food was lovely as was breakfast A big thank you to MORGAN keep doing what you're doing. You are brilliant And everybody involved, we will definitely be back Thanks for a lovely birthday treat Steve & Wendy

“A Mixed Stay”

Driving down the long drive and turning in to the parking area our first impressions were very favourable. A lovely historic building and although we knew we had arrived early the receptionist abruptly informed us we could not check in until 3 pm some 2 hours later. Fair enough, so we had sandwiches for lunch and then proceeded to chat to some lovely Welsh people that were there for lunch. At 3 pm we were informed our room was still not ready(!) and so we brought in our luggage and waited. Why not clean and prepare our room earlier in order to be ready at 3 pm? Our room was a State Deluxe and on their website (told was out of date) I was promised a welcome drink flapjacks bathrobe and slippers. Shampoo/conditioner bath/shower gel body lotion and shower cap. The only items were tiny shower gel shampoo & conditioner. The bathroom was lovely and large with a good shower as it was hot the lukewarm water was fine. The disappointment for a 4 star hotel was the sofa , chair and some small cushions did not look clean and definitely need recovering. There was a small folded scruffy table in front of the armchair but no desk as shown in the photo of the room online. We had one cream tea later but on check out was surprised the pot of tea was not included in the cream TEA - we expected to pay for the coffee! Breakfast was fine but again surprised that if I wanted a cappuccino I would have to pay extra. These might seem petty, but it is the little things that one notes. Having stayed in many country house hotels also classed as 4 star, you get used to a shower cap body lotion slippers and furniture in a bedroom you would be happy to sit on! With a little bit more care and attention Llangoed Hall could be up there with those country house hotels like The Pig or The Painswick for example.

I have been visiting Llangoed Hall for many years and have always loved the luxury it exudes. Reception very discreetly was in one of the side rooms off the main hallway. When you went upstairs along the landing everything was immaculate and eye catching, there was chess sets set up, beautiful ornaments, lots of things to admire as you would expect from a luxury hotel. The fine dining was always a gastronomic experience and was exceptional. Sadly, on our recent visit to Llangoed Hall all this had changed - there was little in the way of luxury. Reception is in the hallway and is like any other run-of-the-mill hotel. The upstairs landing had little to admire. When given our room it had stained furniture and was located just above the bin area. We had to ask for a change of room and was offered a ‘better’ one. It had a charge which we were happy to pay just to move. The room was bigger and suited us perfectly. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was large with a separate shower and bath. We also had a lovely bay window view. The small things that complimented the room were gone. Breakfast was very basic and tasteless, the buffet was very disappointing. My husband was even refused scrambled eggs as the chef didn’t want to make them!! We also had to pay £5 each extra for a latte. Sadly, fine dining seems to be a thing of the past. It is all hugely overpriced for what is now a hotel which lack the standards and relaxed luxury of the old Llangoed.
