“Decent rooms, good location in town centre”

Booked online well in advance. Short walk from the train station was easy. Arrived late because of flight delays but was greeted warmly by staff. Booked online well in advance. Short walk from the train station was easy. Arrived late because of flight delays but was greeted warmly by staff. Room was a good size with huge bathroom and small TV on the wall which could be watched from bed. Coffee, tea and creamer with a kettle were in the room and convenient. Room had a hairdryer. Staircase to the upstairs room was very narrow and difficult to navigate with a suitcase. There were several sturdy fire doors to open as well. Bed was comfortable and room had ac which was great. Breakfast was included but was horrible. Eggs benedict had a packet sauce slopped on which was inedible. Perhaps the other options were better. Second day I opted for toast and a cup of tea before heading out. If you're looking for a decent place to stay that's convenient for the train station and close to the town centre this would work. Pub was fine for a quick drink. You can sit outside and have a view of the Market Square and taxi rank directly outside.

Lovely staff . Food not great apart from the breakfast but sausage not good taste so left it. Ordered chicken and ribs chicken dry and inedible ribs were ok. So next day i tryed chicken salad. The chicken had beem microwaved was vile so i left that to. Room was clean and very comfy beds. We go… more

Lovely staff . Food not great apart from the breakfast but sausage not good taste so left it. Ordered chicken and ribs chicken dry and inedible ribs were ok. So next day i tryed chicken salad. The chicken had beem microwaved was vile so i left that to. Room was clean and very comfy beds. We got takeout that night from food van out front . Lovely kebab and burger. Tom who works the bar goes above and beyond. If you get put in room 105 expect to be woken up by big als food van, he sets up between 3 and 4am . And his light is shining right into the window. Great black out curtains but there was a slight gap so the room lit up and the noise woke me both mornings at 3 am so not a good room to be put in . When we recieved our booking it said room.103 which is at back and suposidly a nice quiet room . No pillow protecters which is a must . Dont think id stay again

Where do I start, the hotel is a nightmare to find on the sat/nav .It will take you to the square,but you can’t get through due to bollards.We tried twice ,but the sat/nav ended in the same place .If we were told the location of the car park it wouldn’t have been a problem.Its a 5min walk away.Upon… more

Where do I start, the hotel is a nightmare to find on the sat/nav .It will take you to the square,but you can’t get through due to bollards.We tried twice ,but the sat/nav ended in the same place .If we were told the location of the car park it wouldn’t have been a problem.Its a 5min walk away.Upon entry to the place,it’s run down …And needs a facelift!The staff are very friendly and polite,though. The room we had was 201 ,Which you have to climb a really step stairs,then enter through a double door?The room is a good size …But vey dark ,the table at the front of the bed had ripples through it …And needs either recovering or replacing!!The ceiling is stained,which wasn’t a good first impression at all ! The bed was clean and comfortable,the bathroom was a good size and has been modernized.I had to keep the bathroom door open to let additional light into the room due to having only one small window in bedroom.Had a drink in the nice bar at the back of the property,nice guy who served us ,who we had a nice conversation with .Slept well , but I could hear some noisy revellers at night.Breakfast in the morning was good,except the low budget sausages which I left .The tables need replacing ,downstairs,and areas need touching up with a lick of paint.The staff make this place,but the hotel doesn’t!I also found it mid-leading by advertising as a hotel / weatherspoons?

“1 night is fine ...”

Absolutely fine for a night - if you're staying for a wedding etc but be prepared for it to be noisy at night as right in the centre square. Everything rather old and the bathroom is in desperate need of a proper clean/replacing the Lino! Breakfast was not great - very tasteless alas and 2 chaps a… more

Absolutely fine for a night - if you're staying for a wedding etc but be prepared for it to be noisy at night as right in the centre square. Everything rather old and the bathroom is in desperate need of a proper clean/replacing the Lino! Breakfast was not great - very tasteless alas and 2 chaps arguing over a beer at 8.40 am and another table watching football on iPad at full blast 😂 Cheap and cheerful. Staff lovely!
