We did the spa & afternoon tea package @ £50. We had a lovely afternoon in the pool (sauna & steam room too) - staff member at the spa reception was lovely. Robes, slippers and towel are provided. We then had a lovely afternoon tea in the restaurant - I am vegan and they made a vegan one especially. The staff were also lovely there too. There was no rushing us and we had a lovely leisurely afternoon. 😊

“Nice room, wouldn't eat here again”

First came here in Feb 2020 just before the pandemic and have to admit I was disappointed.both times we had a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. The room was in the coach house situated right on the main road so the view wasn't great and it was noisy with traffic also no soundproofing at all so you could hear neighbours coming, going, bouncing up and downstairs and slamming doors clearly. There was a fridge with complementary fresh milk near the entrance hall and what I think was an ice machine, but didn't use that. I thought that was a great touch as the pacet milk is never pleasant. The room itself was modern, clean and cosy. Decent TV and a Nespresso machine as well as a kettle. Bathroom was basic but functional. Had trouble with hot water, couldn't get it hot out of the sink unless the shower was on! Bed was comfy and sheets nice, white cotton. Dining experience is the let-down sadly. The offer of bed, dinner and breakfast meant choosing something off a special menu "Table de Hotel". We arrived and was greeted my a friendly member of staff. The restaurant wasn't busy, it was probably half full or less. We were shown to a nice table but told that inexplicably they didn't have a copy of the menu we were supposed to order off. She told us we could have £24 off the main menu. I found the menu on the website as it didn't look like 24 quid would go very far for supposed 3 courses! Started with soup, which was lovely. Partner had a garlic flatbread which was fine. Mains I had chicken breast. There wasn't much option but I'm not complaining as I thought the package price was reasonable. My chicken was cooked well and came with fondant potato and carrot and bok choi. Partner had a burger and I thought it looked disgusting, I wouldn't have accepted it. It looked undercooked, soggy and wet. This morning he said he was glad he had already had 2 pints of Guinness to get through it! Dessert: Sticky toffee pudding, delicious. Now here's where I'm really disappointed. Last time we came I had such a great memory of wearing white robes (which have now been removed) and having breakfast in bed with a delicious cooked breakfast. Sorry to say this service has really suffered. Last time the food was beautifully cooked and covered with lovely cloches. This time, it was late to arrive, we had to call reception to see what was happening. It eventually arrived covered in tin foil. Missing bacon, the eggs were rubber, the black pudding rock solid. The "toast" was stale un-toasted bread. Coffee was cold. I think they had forgotten about us and went to see what was left at the buffet To top it off there was a black hair swimming in the grease of the mushrooms. Room 4/5 Dinner 3/5 Breakfast 0/5 Won't try here again I don't think. Will add photos from 2020 breakfast and today's offering!
