What a great meal at the George, as always! There were 9 of us, food came out all together and piping hot, everyone enjoyed the food and nothing was wasted. The staff were attentive and even found candles for the cake as we had forgotten them. For a Thursday night in January it was surprisingly busy and given the quality of the food and service there is no wonder. Keep doing what you do 👍🏻👏🏻

The food at the George is 10/10 and amazing the waiting on staff all smart and very accommodating.the rooms are clean and warm and the fridge is an added bonus . The only downside was that our beds were not made when the room was done the next morning and the tea bags should perhaps be in a paper wrapping .apart from that a great atmosphere and welcoming stay x

We stayed in room 3. This is directly above the main bar and you can hear everything going on below. It was very noisy. Overall the room was very dusty everywhere. There were used coffee pods in the coffee machine. The cup had a coffee ring around the top. There was one packet of biscuits that were open and missing half a biscuit. The plastic toilet roll bag was on the shelf by the bathroom mirror and the toilet had been used and not flushed. The only toiletries were very basic just the shower gel and hand gel. The bathroom door could not be shut properly as it didn’t fit right. If we had know how noisy it was going to be we would have asked to be moved but it was all too late. Positives were that the staff were excellent. Really friendly. The food was very enjoyable. It was good to see a pub so busy as I know times are difficult for hospitality. The bed was very comfortable. The lunch pack up was very appreciated as we had an early start and were gone by 7:30. If you do stay you will be well fed but ask to stay at the quiet end if that’s what you prefer . Our friends were in room 6 and said it was so quiet in comparison.

Sunday lunch — great food but poor service. Despite it not being particularly busy and there being at least six staff on duty, we waited 25 minutes just to place our order. The food arrived in a reasonable time and was very good overall. However, 35 minutes after finishing, we were still sitting with our plates in front of us with no sign of them being cleared. Other diners around us were also clearly frustrated by the slow, inattentive service. In the end, we decided against dessert to avoid another long wait. Disappointing given how highly recommended the place was, though the food itself was of a good quality and standard.
