Beautiful small boutique hotel. Friendly welcoming staff who couldn't do enough. Stayed in the Junior suite...OMG what a bathroom! Find was lovely as were the cocktails afterwards...perhaps a little too lovely 🤪 Spa facilities were superb. My only critique was perhaps steam room could do with some maintenance and some oils/aroma putting in it. If you are after a special stay..look no further

“Chilled break”

We have just returned from a short break at the Homewood. A lovely location, setting is beautiful. We arrive earlier than our check in time, as we’d travelled. This wasn’t an issue, we part checked in and moved to the bar for a drink and some lunch. Lunch options are slightly limited but what we chose was beautifully presented and tasted lovely. The wine choice was good and I would highly recommend the Picpoul! The lady who checked us in advised she would let us know when our room was ready. Sadly this didn’t happen and when we asked she advised it was! Small things make a big difference and we would have appreciated her following up when the room was ready. We had booked the suite with the private terrace with hot tub and direct access to the spa. The suite was beautifully laid out and decor nice, although a little tired in places. The suite had everything you’d expect - plenty of towels, robes, fresh milk, still and sparkling water, fresh brownies always a nice touch. The bathroom was spacious with two baths and a lovey powerful shower. Terrace and hot tub were great and also cleaned daily. Direct access to the spa was useful. Spa was clean and had plenty of spare towels and robes. Be aware though the spa can get busy as it’s open for Spa Days, and to me there are very few beds for the number of people admitted. Breakfast was good and cooked fresh to order. Dinner was not so great, but maybe just a one off experience. Staff were lovely, seemed happy and were very courteous. A nice touch is the old fashioned sweets, but you may need to ask for a bag and for the sweets to be topped up! We had a fabulous few days but these little things detract from a true 5 star experience. Would we return - most definitely as we know what to expect and had a very chilled break.

We chose Homewood Hotel & Spa to celebrate our kids’ birthday, and we arrived with high expectations. The hotel itself is lovely, the facilities are great, and the children had a fantastic time. Overall, we still managed to enjoy our stay. That said, the service did not match the standard of the place. We arrived well before the 3 pm check-in time, and we fully understood the room would not be ready. That was not the issue. The problem was the attitude at reception. When I approached to say we had a reservation, the receptionist looked at me as if I was inconveniencing her. I even pointed out that we knew we were early, but the response was quite cold, simply saying the room would not be ready before 1:30 pm at the earliest, without even asking for our name. Around 1:30 pm, we kindly asked if they could let us know once the room was ready, as we were at the bar with the kids. Again, we were not expecting early access, just some basic communication. At 2:30 pm, my wife checked again and was told one of the rooms was ready, so we sent the children and their grandmother up. At 3 pm, still no update about the second room. My wife went back to reception and was told the room was ready. What is disappointing is not the wait itself, but the fact we had to keep asking. In many hotels, staff take initiative and inform guests, especially when they know you are waiting on-site. There were also smaller issues that added up. We were charged £5 for a breakfast item we did not order. When I raised it, I was told, “if it’s on the bill, it means you ordered it.” Only after showing photos of our plates was the mistake acknowledged, and even then, there was no apology. The same happened with the EV charging. I was told it would be £5 per hour. I used it for 1 hour and 30 minutes and informed reception when I unplugged, but we were charged for 2 hours. It is not a big difference, but the pricing is already quite high, so it felt unnecessary. In the end, it is not about the money. It is about attention to detail, communication, and basic courtesy. The hotel has a lot going for it, but the service needs to improve to match the quality of the setting.

We paid to use the spa facilities for the evening (3 hours). The champagne was lovely and so were the staff. However, we found that the facilities were a little rough around the edges. The changing rooms were unkept (hair on the floor in the showers etc), the pools were great temperatures but had a considerable amount of debris in from surrounding plants, and I feel it would have been beneficial for staff to have been more proactive clearing cups etc from around the pools. Probably would come again but it would have felt more luxurious if the issues listed were fixed😊
