Overall we enjoyed our 4-night stay and rated accordingly. What went well - Easy parking - Walkable access to Bath Centre, enabling us to fulfil our plans during our stay - Pleasant staff. In particular Dylan on reception and Niamh, Ewan and Dylan in the lounge and dining areas, along with Gurval the GM in the restaurant and bar area. Some staff knew the area better than others and offered some ideas on what to do whilst in Bath. - Comfortable room (Camden Suite) with welcome fruit and biscuits and daily paper, and welcome gift and Easter present for our daughter. We were provide a slight extension on check out too, thank you - Enjoyable flexibility at breakfast and dining from The Pantry (omelette very good) - Pools (in and out) and spa facilities accessible with restrictions dependent on age - Access to the grounds and dining on the terrace along with games such as boules - we had some billing queries - by working with reception and the GM Gurval we resolved the queries, thank you Even Better If - our room had a blue dog toy in it, presumably from a previous visit. A blue cleaning cloth was also left on the floor one night after turn down. The fitted sheet in the main bedroom had a small tear, all of which was avoidable. - all staff were friendly, however some staff seemed rather less confident and empowered to help when other potentially more senior staff were unavailable. The bar and lounge area could be understaffed for periods especially when dining periods were busier, meaning it was protracted to replenish a drink for example - pool access was at points quite regimented : for example when staying in the pool for a few minutes after 11am whilst my wife checked if our room was cleaned, we were asked to leave the pool. There is a fine line between efficiency and officiousness and this felt rather like the latter on this occasion - on 2 mornings we were provided dinner menus for one of us instead of the breakfast menu, this was avoidable - Camden Suite windows rattled heavily in the wind and the fasteners were loose There was also a DVD player in our lounge but no DVD library on site - The shower door was loose and made it more challenging to make sure water stayed in the shower cubicle - knowledge of alarm test on Tuesdays at 11am : had to check this was a drill having evacuated the room as a precaution via the nearest exit - Front of house are also welcoming new guests and helping them settle in whilst managing existing guests needs. This leads to gaps in availability in staff at times front of house leaving other staff members exposed at points. - There was a leak in a bedroom above The Pantry meaning dining space options were limited. After a patient wait at reception whilst new guests arrived and were offered the only table opening in The Pantry (I was literally stood with the menu in my hand whilst hearing the only spare table be reserved). After speaking with Rebecca at the desk, we were however able to get some preordered Pantry dining options delivered to the lounge area instead. The main restaurant was fully booked, albeit it appeared with limited capacity. - onsite charging option for electric vehicles We hope these comments help enhance future service delivery at The Bath Priory.
