My husband and I stayed for one night Dinner, Bed, Breakfast and morning Spa experience. Everything about our stay was very very good. We were booked in by Emily on Reception who was exceptional. We were offered a room upgrade and she also took the trouble to re-arrange the timing of our dinner booking for us. The room was first class, drinks service in the conservatory area, dinner, breakfast and the spa were all lovely. Every member of hotel staff we encountered were doing a great job.

Just recently returned from Carden Park for a celebratory visit for my wife’s 30th Birthday. Let’s start with the negatives. Our afternoon spa visit was booked from 2pm-6pm. We first got ourselves a pricey cocktail at £17 each, (disappointing to see these are pre-made and bought in considering the price) however they tasted great so not the end of the world, we used the outdoor facilities which were great however, unlike other high end spa’s we have visited, we struggled to relax and wind down due to the loud music played through the speakers, they are clearly trying to give Ibiza/love island vibes. Don’t get me wrong, we love a good party and loud music but not when trying to escape for a relaxing spa break. The thing that really disappointed us was after already having two/three drinks, we went back to the outdoor bar at 5.20pm to get one last drink before we left at 6pm, to be told the bar was now closed. When we walked away my wife said that’s not very good and will be mentioning that on her review, I think who we presume was the bar manager must have overheard this and shouted over ‘actually its fine you can have some drinks’ but we declined this as we weren’t prepared to stand there awkwardly and made to feel like an inconvenience. We left the spa and headed to the main hotel to check out our newly refurbished room. Our room was spacious, clean and had great views overlooking the estate. Downside in the room was the little fridge was warm and didn’t seem to work properly so we couldn’t put our drinks in. We dined in Redmond’s for our evening meal which was nice. Staff were great in here. One thing I will point out is the 12.5% service charge, absolutely no issue paying a tip but find 12.5% is steep. Most places are usually no higher than 10%. We had a great nights sleep in the huge comfortable bed, unfortunately woken up at 7am by the Welsh Women’s football team shouting down the corridor to each other. Seeing as I was awake early I decided to use the leisure facilities which were good, nice cold pool to swim in and a huge hot tub to have a morning soak in. Excellent selection at breakfast, probably one of the better hotel breakfasts we have had. One previous review on here mentions having cheap fruit juice but I thought they were perfectly acceptable. The strawberry juice was a particular favourite of mine. Not something to normally see elsewhere. Egg station was a nice touch too with omelettes being made fresh for you by the chef. Overall I am not entirely sure what to make of this hotel, some great bits some not so great. I think there a much better spas out there for the money, however the hotel itself was impressive, so mixed feelings.

The staff were really good and the resort had lovely views (when you could see them). We stayed in a Carden Courtyard Suite, so not cheap. The staff were really good and the resort had lovely views (when you could see them). We stayed in a Carden Courtyard Suite, so not cheap. The bed/mattress was really firm, so I didn’t sleep very well at all and it will probably mean we can’t return there. It also had a balcony but the balcony surround which was topped with a 5” piece of timber (at eyeline level) which meant you couldn’t see anything when using the seating, odd.

“Nice staff, poor golf and high food and refreshment prices”

The price of a drink really pricey with a group discount of 10%!!.Most big group golf gives bigger discounts. The cheshire course was nice and dry.So why ask to play of mats.When we saw members playing off the fairways withput. Nicklaus course was closed which was part of our package (there should have been an offer from the hotel of a free round on another day (given there was a 30 plus group whom all paid good money. Bedrooms were lovelly and beds really comfortable. Unfortanately i wont be returning. Mark
