“Meet-up”

Had a weekend at The Rookery along with some friends. Lovely hotel with excellent leisure facilities in the spa. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is a little pricey but you get what you pay for, would stay here again.

My husband chose rookery hall because it was my 60th birthday and he had read the reviews which were generally pretty positive. The place is lovely and the staff are incredible but they really need to upgrade their vegetarian options . I am not a fan of gnocchi but as that was the only option I had to have it. As a chef myself I know there are endless options to accommodate vegetarian cuisine and I would honestly love to come back but they really need to to make the venue more vegetarian friendly.

“Beautiful hotel… but beware of the evening music from wedding events”

Came to the hotel to visit friends in the area over Easter. The hotel is incredible, the rooms comfortable and spacious, the staff cannot do enough to help you. However…. Came to the hotel to visit friends in the area over Easter. The hotel is incredible, the rooms comfortable and spacious, the staff cannot do enough to help you. However…. We stayed for 3 nights over a bank holiday weekend… and had a wedding taking place on the Friday and Monday night at the hotel. Our room was within spitting distance of the main events hall and with that, came the booming music that went on until 12am. There was no getting away from the constant beat, it was noisier than being at home. I didn’t expect to pay £300 a night to have to listen to this for 2 of the 3 nights. Such a shame and the only complaint, though it’s a big one from me. The spa was lovely, lots of facilities for which we had full access during our stay. Breakfast was lovely lots of choice and nicely presented. We had dinner one evening, it was very pricey and only did it the once. If you’re thinking about ordering food in, don’t use use deliveroo they are short on drivers. Uber eats or just eat are better options. Would I stay here again? Maybe… but I’d be asking for a room on the opposite side of the hotel to the Nantwich suites events hall!

We live locally and treat ourselves to a Rookery experience 3 or 4 times a year if we can. We last visited opted in a September last year and were looking forward to returning. There is no doubt that the food is delicious and visually spectacular. To start we enjoyed Scottish Langoustine tart with a seafood emulsion, lemon, bisque and sea herbs, along with Beetroot, whipped goats cheese and herb emulsion, both were absolutely delicious. To follow, we were delighted with our choices of Scottish Halibut topped with mussel mousse with a caviar sauce and Lancashire White Pork served with black pudding, sticky cheek, apple, hen of the woods and pickled mustard sauce. Our side orders of rosti potato chips and tender stem broccoli were perfect accompaniments. A delectable cheese board rounded off our meal perfectly: Maida Vale, Comte and Crozier Blue, served with a selection of breads, crackers and a fabulous gluten free option for me. The service delivered in the restaurant was outstanding, so genuinely friendly and informative of each course. Sadly we didn’t feel that the service in the bar was as good as previously experienced. My cocktail was very ordinary, a further drinks order was incorrect, tables were left uncleared despite the bar staff ‘chatting’ resulting in guests having to seat themselves at dirty tables, generally the high standards that we had expected were lacking, one waiter was completely focused on one couple which sadly was at the detriment of other guests. One waiter however was delightful and was very apologetic when we advised our drinks order was incorrect, sadly he appeared to be the exception. We will absolutely return and would highly recommend and can only hope that this was a one off.
