There are places you visit, and then there are places that quietly change the way you see the world. The Rudloe Arms is firmly the latter. I came here as a much-needed sabbatical from city life, seeking stillness, great food, and a chance to reconnect with myself. Sitting in the garden each morning, reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, I found the peace I had been searching for. My visit also happened to coincide with Anthony Bourdain’s birthday. As a small celebration of his life, I wanted to pay my respects to someone he deeply admired. Until several months ago, I knew almost nothing about Marco Pierre White. Discovering his story, his philosophy, and his influence has been a remarkable journey, and staying at The Rudloe Arms felt like a fitting pilgrimage. The hospitality was exceptional. Every member of the staff made me feel genuinely welcome, but I would especially like to thank Tobin, Victoria, Nigel, Dominic, and Lily. Their attentiveness, kindness, and warmth transformed an already memorable stay into something truly special. The food deserves all the praise it receives. Every meal was beautifully prepared, full of confidence, simplicity, and flavor that spoke for itself. My room was delightfully eccentric, filled with character and charm. Rather than feeling like another anonymous hotel room, it felt as though it had its own story to tell. Every corner reflected personality, making the experience all the more unforgettable. The Rudloe Arms is more than a hotel; it’s a place where history, hospitality, and individuality come together in a way that is increasingly rare. I now understand why Marco Pierre White inspires so many people. He is like the North Star; you could guide your ship by him.

“Ok for the price”

The Rudloe was not easy to find as there was not signage on the front, eventually when we did find it we were not sure if we were going up someone's driveway but we continued, would of been nice to see a sign saying reception but nothing. The Rudloe was not easy to find as there was not signage on the front, eventually when we did find it we were not sure if we were going up someone's driveway but we continued, would of been nice to see a sign saying reception but nothing. Staff ok got given our key and we went to our room, we stayed in room 303 please beware all doors are heavy and slam too. We noticed a deposit of £100 was taken not pending taken from my account this does not go back in until 72hrs later I was told. There is also a £4 charge per breakfast per person and please be aware as some of the breakfasts you pay for it is not included. Rooms were clean except for under the bed where I found things people had left behind. We stayed two night. In need of some update around the grounds/gardens and inside, overall was ok.
