Would highly recommend this hotel. Was great location,clean, comfortable and quiet. There was 3 rooms booked altogether as a hen party celebrating in Colchester town. The staff went above and beyond to help us out. In particular the duty manager at the time was a guy called Kev who was extra helpful in getting us booked in early so we could go out to enjoy our hen party. Also remembering us the following day to ask how our evening went. We went for breakfast the following morning and was really good, hot freshly cooked food. The chef was also friendly and helpful. So will definitely be using this hotel again. Many thanks 😊

“Happy with our nights stay”

Room was surprisingly clean and in pretty good shape. The AC was a blessing with the current hot weather. Bathroom was clean and basics provided. I think for the price it’s good value. Room was surprisingly clean and in pretty good shape. The AC was a blessing with the current hot weather. Bathroom was clean and basics provided. I think for the price it’s good value. Only criticism is lack of staff on reception but I guess that’s due to self check in which is fine if everything is okay but a nuisance if you have a query. Also the restaurant was closed when we arrived at 4pm and having travelled all day we were pretty hungry and had to go elsewhere.

Great location, with just a short walk through the castle grounds to reach the high street. Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful, which made our stay feel welcoming. However, we returned to the hotel just after 10:30pm on Saturday to find the bar had already closed at 10pm. There were no signs anywhere indicating this, and it was disappointing as our group had planned to watch the football together. In fairness, it seemed the staff were watching it themselves at the back of reception. After speaking to another member of staff, it turns out the bar could have been opened, which put a bit of a dampener on the end of an otherwise great weekend—especially as we had all travelled between 2–4 hours to stay here. Such a shame, as everything else was spot on.

“Shame about noisy guests”

The hotel was clean and in a good location. The staff were great. Sadly the people in the room above ours were banging around until 1am, we did report this and it was taken care of, but it's not what you expect and really did me in the next day. As a disabled traveler I would expect better.
