We booked this hotel for a weekend break over the holidays wasn’t expecting much as our last wowcher deal was a nightmare,but thought we would get tiny room with no windows but pleasantly surprised room was spotless large and a huge bed I mean as broad as it was long yes we looked out onto trees but the surrounding landscape was wonderful with the little villages of yatton and congresbury nearby Breakfast was a buffet affair but had everything anyone could want from pastries cakes continental to the standard full English,service was great as you would expect from a lovely classy hotel staff very polite and welcoming a little too far for us to return but so glad we booked it and will look at Hilton hotels in the future

Upgraded vis the app and received a digital key, however you have to go to reception to enter your car registration. £12 for 24 hours . Breakfast was good and attention to detail here was better than some hotels. Good coffee machine, properly set up toaster and reasonably hot food where necessary. Restaurant is gloomy and definitely needs a refurb. We commented on this when we were last here 7 years ago! Otherwise pretty solid.

“Not four star standards”

We stay at this hotel regularly as it's convenient for visiting family in the area and have done so for many years. This particular stay was for 3 nights, a longer stay than usual. We booked a king room (the deluxe king rooms were unavailable at the time of booking). The bed was comfortable and the pillows were quite soft, but okay for us. We returned to the room mid-afternoon after our first night and were surprised to see that the room had not been serviced. I rang reception who said that on a 3 night stay they wouldn't service the room after the first night. She explained that it was in line with their 'green initiatives'! I asked if we could at least have our waste bins emptied. She sent one of the housekeeping team to our door who willingly emptied the bins and I also asked for fresh towels because there was nowhere to hang towels to dry in the tiny shower room, not even hooks. She willingly supplied fresh towels and I made the bed myself. I do find it strange that a 4 star hotel claiming to be 'the finest 4 star boutique hotel in the west country' does not automatically provide basic room servicing after each night. In fact, I've never known this before, even at a B&B!! We dined in the restaurant on all 3 nights. The staff were well trained and very personable. On two nights the food was good. However, the quality of the food is inconsistent. I ordered the steak frites twice during my stay. On this first occasion it was great, hence deciding to order on a second occasion. However, the second time, the steak was awful, bad quality meat, full of grissle and the accompanying salad looked burnt. The server asked if I wanted another dish but I declined because it would have meant waiting a long time and then eating along (my OH would have finished his meal). I would expect a steak restaurant to provide consistently high quality meat. The breakfast buffet is adequate, the hot food is generally 'warm' rather than piping hot. It entails several trips back and forth to collect everything needed. It would be great if hot drinks could be served at the table rather than having to make one's own at a vending machine. I do commend the member of staff who greeted us, I think her name is Julie, she is always so kind and friendly, an asset to their team.
