I have to express my dissapointment in the parking charge, we took two cars as we were travelling from 2 differant counties, it was clear we were hotel guests and staying for two nights. £48 car parking on top of the stay. Super welcome when I checked in and the rest of the staff in the resturant on both evenings and both breakfasts were execptional and a credit to the Hilton Brand. We enjoyed the spa but again, extra charges for robes and flip flops is unnessary, thank godness we brought our own. The beds were very comfortable in our twin room. The evening meal was prepaid in our package and the choices unusually limited for Hilton, we wouldn't eat in again but breakfast was nice, the coffee machine was devine.

We stay at this hotel regularly as it's convenient for visiting family in the area and have done so for many years. This particular stay was for 3 nights, a longer stay than usual. We booked a king room (the deluxe king rooms were unavailable at the time of booking). The bed was comfortable and the pillows were quite soft, but okay for us. We returned to the room mid-afternoon after our first night and were surprised to see that the room had not been serviced. I rang reception who said that on a 3 night stay they wouldn't service the room after the first night. She explained that it was in line with their 'green initiatives'! I asked if we could at least have our waste bins emptied. She sent one of the housekeeping team to our door who willingly emptied the bins and I also asked for fresh towels because there was nowhere to hang towels to dry in the tiny shower room, not even hooks. She willingly supplied fresh towels and I made the bed myself. I do find it strange that a 4 star hotel claiming to be 'the finest 4 star boutique hotel in the west country' does not automatically provide basic room servicing after each night. In fact, I've never known this before, even at a B&B!! We dined in the restaurant on all 3 nights. The staff were well trained and very personable. On two nights the food was good. However, the quality of the food is inconsistent. I ordered the steak frites twice during my stay. On this first occasion it was great, hence deciding to order on a second occasion. However, the second time, the steak was awful, bad quality meat, full of grissle and the accompanying salad looked burnt. The server asked if I wanted another dish but I declined because it would have meant waiting a long time and then eating along (my OH would have finished his meal). I would expect a steak restaurant to provide consistently high quality meat. The breakfast buffet is adequate, the hot food is generally 'warm' rather than piping hot. It entails several trips back and forth to collect everything needed. It would be great if hot drinks could be served at the table rather than having to make one's own at a vending machine. I do commend the member of staff who greeted us, I think her name is Julie, she is always so kind and friendly, an asset to their team.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions now. It is fairly near Bristol airport and, whilst the rooms are fairly average, the hotel boasts a Marco Pierre White restaurant. Dining in their restaurant is the only reason we stay in the hotel. I am, therefore, very disappointed to report that we’ve had a number of instances recently where the restaurant has been quite poor. In essence they seem unable to produce steak that is hot and/or to one’s cooking specification. It’s an expensive restaurant and, frankly, we’ve run out of patience and will not be staying there again.
