This hotel is very much a mixture of good and appalling. I have marked as 4 stars as, in all honesty, I had a good time here. The bad- On the approach to our room, it was very institutional looking. More like a prison or something than a hotel. The cleanliness was dubious. The room, erm, it was comfortable but basically and dirty. The walls were marked and the carpets, curtains, bedding and towels all had stains on them. The separate toilet was a surprise and although it wasn't a massive issue for me, the walls were smeared with " nasal juices" and does beg the question, what is the point if you're sharing with a friend, you can't wash your hands while they're showering.... negates the need for a seperate toilet. Point of note there, its one of those toilets where if you're a size 16 or above, you will struggle to shut the door as there's no room for manoeuvre. The carpets in the communal areas are vile. Literally disgusting. At breakfast on day 2, I said to my other half, look at the Cobweb on that light, he replied with, "thats the least of their problems. No 5 second rule here." We did chuckle but honestly, I cannot stress enough how the carpet is awful in the dining area and the slope up to it. The shower has to be on the lowest setting to actually use it! Our toilet didn't flush. Well, it did at times but took an eternity to refill so you could flush. We reported this on our first morning when left at around 11.30. When we came back at around 18.15, the toilet remained untouched. Not the best service really when you consider the need for a working toilet in a confined space. The good points. The staff. There was some amazing people manning this hotel. One gentleman in particular was amazing and gave a service that was second to none. No one was awful. Everyone was polite and the skills and care shown by the staff make you for the shortcomings in other areas. Breakfast- ok. Standard fayre. No hash browns on either day. Travesty 😂 Evening meal- I was skeptical to the point of where I considered ordering in, but the drinks were good and neither the water or breakfast had made me ill. We both had the burger from the bar menu. It was so good. Well worth the money. Summary- A real mixed bag here. The place looks like its been trashed. The unkempt feel honesty let's it down BUT there are pockets of hope. The staff and the food were both amazing. It needs TLC, a lot of it! The asylum feel and grotty carpets let it down massively. Maybe fix a toilet when asked? All in all, a good stay in all honesty. Just shows the difference good staff and good food make. If the food has been rubbish and the staff awful, I'd be marking this as one star.

“Good stay”

Good clean rooms and friendly staff . Good parking . Would say however could do with a breakfast manager to supervise levels in dining room . No saussage ,no marmalade 2 days despite asking , no cups and the coffe cold . I will gladly stay again next time in Coventry

Arrive to nice reception with a nice modern bar area to the right... My room was 2nd floor. As soon as you leave the reception area you notice shabby paintwork. And worn carpets. Arrive to nice reception with a nice modern bar area to the right... My room was 2nd floor. As soon as you leave the reception area you notice shabby paintwork. And worn carpets. The lift carpet was dirty and needing a vacuuming at minimum. Room was laid out. Lovely clean modern bathroom with separate W.C. Carpets again were worn/dirty. Aircon took forever to warm the room. Full size big flatscreen on the wall with multiple inputs for laptops/hdmi/ethernet etc. Was a chezlounge in the room but this had a huge stain on it approx 2feet by foot. Slept OK although bed was hard. Breakfast room is through the bar. Nicely laid out with everything you'd want. I opted for the full English. Bacon undercooked along with sausages. Fried eggs like bullets. Was busy and not enough food to go around so had to wait for bacon and beans. Carpets were stained and looked nasty. Overall,it.could be a nice hotel with a decent refurb. 4/10
