What a wonderful long weekend we have had staying at 24 Ward Avenue. We booked the Badger Garden Room and were truly delighted with our accommodation. Our room was hidden in the tranquil garden and totally private. We loved the fairy lights in the garden and spent several evenings sitting out on the veranda just enjoying the peace and quiet. We loved the fact that we were able to get straight out into the park from the bottom of the garden through what felt like a little secret exit, so magical. Really comfortable room. The shower was large with plenty of hot water and we were provided with everything we needed. There is no fridge inside the cabin but we loved the extra touch of the electric cool box outside, this meant we were able to keep some fizz and other bits and pieces nice and chilled for when we wanted them. We were delivered a full English breakfast to our veranda every morning which was a great way to start our day. Jonathan and Melissa are excellent hosts and we will definitely be visiting again. Highly recommend this property.

We stayed here for 4 nights in June. I booked based on the reviews, and on the pictures on Booking.com which showed and lovely garden cabin (Red Squirrel Chalet). I have to start this review by saying we did enjoy our stay, Jonathan and Melissa were lovely people and couldn't do enough, however all that glitters is not gold and I think review should be totally honest otherwise they are worthless. We had difficulty locating the house as there is no signage outside - we realised afterwards there was a huge 24 on the gate but as the gate was open we couldn't see it from the road. Parking was tight but enough room for 3 cars and with a bit of juggling there were no problems getting in and out. Jonathan showed us down to our cabin at the end of the garden. A beautiful garden which has obviously been cultivated over many years. Our cabin was at the bottom of the garden and totally private from the house. My first impression was of a tired Summer House, whilst I didn't expect the ritz it looked tired on the outside as did the immediate area outside the cabin. Hey ho we peeked inside and it looked nice so in we went. The layout of the room was ok, with plenty of hooks and hangers. The lovely glass fronted fired had been taken out and replaced by an oil heater. The smart white bathroom sink and cupboard had been replaced with a pine cabinet and bowl affair - the shower was as a wet room which was fine, but after a shower the floor was soaking wet. Yes there were slatted wooden stands to stand on but they weren't very comfortable and were difficult to maneuver, especially when getting up at night. We ended up lifting them up out of the way and resorted to putting our shoes on when going to the loo. The carpet around the bed is very hard and very uncomfortable to walk on, it wasn't pleasant at all. My only other issue was security. We were at the bottom of the garden near to the back gate which allowed us to walk down into Cowes. However the security on the gate was non existent, we kept coming back to find that gate open and with our Chalet being so close I was nervous about it being broken into. Having said all of that...... as I said before our hosts were brilliant, breakfast delivered to the patio every morning, cereal, fresh pot of tea, yoghurt (no fruit) and then a full English (or whatever you wanted). They respected our privacy but at the same time were on hand to offer advice or just generally show interest in what we were doing and where we were going. The garden is lovely, lit up by fairy lights at night which is magical, the dogs are cute and on the one morning it chucked it down we were given breakfast in the house rather than on our wet patio. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a peaceful and private accommodation, with the caveat that the weather was good when we were there..... but I think the £145 per night we paid was steep for the level of comfort received.
