“Great staff but hotel in need of updating.”

Spent two nights here as a base for a wedding. Cosmetically the hotel would hugely benefit from a total revamp, as furniture, fixtures & fittings are out dated & in places grubby, however, the staff were amazing throughout our two night stay. The cleaning team worked hard to keep the rooms maintained to a good standard. Upon arrival we were placed in a room overlooking the A50, the traffic noise was unbearable; upon going to reception to ask for a different room, the manager had it sorted within minutes and helped move our things swiftly to ensure we had a good nights sleep. Kamal, the restaurant manager was funny & açommodating, making all the guests feel welcome. We booked a table for fifteen for breakfast on day 3 which wasn't ready when we all arrived, however, Shakira, who was on duty, ensured everything was dealt with swiftly & professionally. She organised freshly cooked food items to be brought out to cater for the sudden influx whilst carrying out her other duties. The team worked very well.

Chase Mickelover revisited again . Great location for visits to the peak district and Derbyshire dales . Chase Mickelover revisited again . Great location for visits to the peak district and Derbyshire dales . Free parking for guests requested a room on the third floor with a nice view not quaranteed but was supplied with one !Must mention the nice fluffy towels . Swimming pool,sauna ,steam and Gym all up and running . Great area to relax . Breakfast buffet very adequate with the attentive Jose the waiter in attendance Special thanks to Emma the manager and for sure Zakira and Tarini helpful ,happy smart customer focused front of house staff. We will be back booking advised busy place .

Recently stayed here after a change to my original plans. I’d initially booked to visit the area in April, but due to work commitments had to rearrange for early May. I called on the morning of arrival to upgrade from a twin to a double, and everything was handled perfectly and sorted promptly when we arrived. We checked in shortly after 8pm and were greeted by Zakira (I think - I'm so sorry if I've got your name wrong), who was friendly, welcoming and informative throughout. I had followed signage for the parking stating “Pay on Arrival”, so it was a little confusing to then be asked to enter my details again at check-in. As a refund couldn’t be offered, we were instead given two complimentary drinks, which was a great gesture of goodwill and more than fair for the inconvenience. The room itself was an 'Executive Double' (101) and provided a spacious, clean and comfortable environment for a good night’s sleep. We found the additional pillows in the wardrobe a great comfort and the only slight downside was that the room felt a little too warm and the air conditioning didn’t seem to make much difference. As such, we ended up sleeping with the balcony doors open. There was some background noise around 7am when glass bottles were being emptied, although as an early riser it wasn’t really an issue for me. At breakfast we were again greeted by friendly staff, with the self-service options clearly explained. After enjoying a toasted bagel with Marmite (delicious!), we moved on to the cooked breakfast. Honest feedback from someone who works in the industry: overall it was good, although a couple of the sausages seemed as though they may have been reheated from the previous day, and the hash browns had perhaps been sitting out a little too long. That said, the overall selection — from cooked breakfast and continental options to yoghurts and pastries — was extensive and definitely enough to set you up for the day. Unfortunately our plans on the Tuesday meant we didn’t get chance to make use of the leisure facilities, but the pool looked inviting and wasn’t overly busy during our brief look around. Overall, the atmosphere throughout the hotel felt relaxed yet professional, with plenty of spacious areas to unwind outside of the room. I'm not a particular fan of football but the surrounding décor made for interesting memorabilia to those who I'm sure appreciate the history. Thank you to all the team members we interacted with during our stay — I’d definitely keep this hotel in mind if I found myself back in the area again.
