Lovely first stay at this hotel , in a really nice location next to the canal, and the extra touches like a bag of food to feed the ducks and a band for a free drink or snack for the children was really nice , having the swimming pool was great we stayed In for a few hours ! we found staff to be really nice polite and friendly which always makes a difference, and they were all really helpful the breakfast was lovely , our room was comfortable and the extra large double beds were nice too , really enjoyed our stay here ! And 5 star review for the staff for creating a nice atmosphere and making people's stay nice ) we will definitely be back

The location of this hotel is lovely. It was very handy for the M53, but with the hotel being located on the docks, you forget how close you are to the M53. The only thing with being on the docks is that, whilst there is plenty of parking, it's a bit speed out and in 3 different areas. There's very limited parking directly outside the hotel if you're lucky. If not, and there's more than one person, I would recommend dropping someone off with the luggage by the entrance whilst the driver parks the car as you have to drive back over the short bridge and there's parking off the road to the right, or an overflow carpark on the left. The hotel has a lovely feel to it. It felt very welcoming and the staff member who met us on reception was very friendly and helpful. The staff member who greeted us at breakfast was also lovely and very helpful. My friend and I had a 2 King Beds Standard Canal View room. The view would have been really lovely but unfortunately the room we were in (101) had a lot of blown windows, meaning condensation between the panes was obscuring the lovely view. Not ideal when you've paid extra for a room with that view and something the hotel really needs to look at and get remedied. The room was very nice and very clean and we had a very comfortable night. The beds were comfy and the air con system worked well to keep the room at a comfortable temperature. We were just a bit late getting to sleep because we seemed to be above a function room which was playing music until midnight and, both being autistic, noise like that is tricky for us and left us a bit overloaded/wired even after it had stopped. That's not the hotel's fault though. It was a last minute booking and we'd never stayed here before, so I hadn't realised there might be a function going on. If I'd have known I'd have spoken to the hotel prior to arrival and requested a room not directly over the function room. Breakfast was lovely. Some good quality ingredients and a good selection of products to choose from and a lovely view of the canal to boot. It also didn't cost too much extra when added to the booking rather than deciding and paying at the hotel in the morning. Despite the minor issues, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. The hotel definitely needs to look and sort out the maintenance of the windows, and we've learnt a few things for if we ever do return in the future to enable a slightly smoother trip. Overall we would definitely recommend this hotel if you need to stay in the area.

Ideal for what we wanted as visiting Boat Museum next door. Friendly staff, good breakfast, comfortable room and we enjoyed our evening meals. The steak was cooked as we ordered. “Dirty carpets. Poor service in restaurant”

No idea why this hotel gets such good reviews. In my room the carpet was filthy, so stained and unclean. There were long dark hairs in the bath. No idea why this hotel gets such good reviews. In my room the carpet was filthy, so stained and unclean. There were long dark hairs in the bath. Lamp on the desk thick with dust and a grey dusty old net curtain at the window. The bathroom is tiny with the door in the way of the bath. small double bed in a small room. Food in the restaurant was very average with small portions. Service terrible, waited ages to be seated - completely ignored by the waitress, could see the other waitress in the kitchen chatting. The car park is out the back of the hotel so it's a trek to reception with bags. The lady on reception was nice and the view from the restaurant was pretty and that's the only positives I can come up with.
