Premier Inn Exeter Central St Davids

“Great location”

Excellent location for Exeter St David's train station. Warm and helpful staff. Great options for breakfast. Warm rooms, comfortable beds. Great size bath tub. Luggage option is very useful.

I didn’t stay the night, but on a night when trains were stopped everywhere, I didn’t know what I was doing and I needed a drink. I thought it would be chaos but I sat in a corner and it was oddly peaceful. The staff were lovely. A lady with brunette hair and glasses cleared my table and was very polite and smiley. A tall bald man served me and asked how I was doing. I appreciated the peaceful and friendly environment in the madness, while I figured out what I was doing. Thank you.

“Well presented small budget hotel”

A recently refurbished, and therefore vastly improved, hotel. Check-in was via the automated kiosk which actually worked; not my usual experience at Premier Inn. I did the new online check-in in the app and did expect the app to function as my room key, but it doesn’t look like Premier Inn have caught up with that yet. The room itself was immaculately presented, looked and smelled fresh, everything worked. I do prefer the new style rooms, even over the previous new rooms which had a very dark furniture making it feel dated. Overall a good stay, no staff interaction as didn’t see any as didn’t use the restaurant. Breakfast has become expensive for an adult without children (who eat free, so essentially an adult is subsidising other people’s kids to eat at no cost) so ate locally, there’s a Costa directly opposite. Hotel was pricy, it was £115 for a night which I think anything over £100 for a Premier Inn is overpriced, but everywhere in Exeter that night was very expensive - it’s become a hugely expensive city post-pandemic and no more so than parking. The hotel has no car park, there is a train station car park opposite which is £15.20 for 24 hrs but if you use the overflow car park next door this is £12.20 so worth it for the extra few metres walk.
