“Lovely stay”

Surprised as lower rating than others, seems unfair , lovely room, robes, lovely spa, clean and great trip

Good location, near to family. Friendly staff on arrival, prebooked Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom needs attention - loose toilet roll holder and leaking tap unit. Easy check-in. Quiet throughout the hotel even though from the full car park (recently introduced parking charges). No real atmosphere. Room ratees excellent value for money. Did not use any of the facilities. Highly recommended.

“Great staff, but the hotel itself needs updating”

We stayed as a small family during the Easter holidays, mainly to use the pool and spa facilities, with the hotel’s proximity to Gloucester Docks (around 2.5 km away) also a key reason for choosing it. Overall, the experience was mixed. Our initial room had issues, particularly with the shower. It was a bath–shower mixer with a pull-up diverter that didn’t work, and the water pressure was extremely poor—to the point where even running a bath was just a trickle. At £120 for a midweek family room (without breakfast), this didn’t feel like good value. However, I do want to highlight the reception staff member, who appeared to be working alone and managing multiple demands. After a couple of prompts, he handled things professionally and moved us to a suite later in the evening (around 9pm), which made a real difference and meant the issue was resolved before bedtime after a busy day. He also explained that the water system is quite old, which may account for the pressure issues, and his openness was appreciated. The pool and spa facilities were clean and functional—the sauna and steam room were up to temperature, and the gym was well equipped. That said, they felt somewhat dated and didn’t quite match expectations given the price and website photos, especially as this was a key reason for our visit. We didn’t use the restaurant as there was no clearly presented menu on arrival beyond an A4 printout, and pricing felt on the higher side. When we passed by later in the evening, it was empty. More generally, the hotel doesn’t quite match the polished impression given by the photos online. It feels dated in places, and even after the room change, the amenities, mattress and pillows didn’t meet expectations—particularly compared to somewhere like Premier Inn. In summary, the staff were excellent and did their best in what seemed like a stretched situation, but the property itself and overall value for money fall short.

“Evening meal outstanding”

Very welcoming. Pool lovely, jacuzzi not working. Gym great. Evening meal fantastic. Staff friendly. Breakfast was ok, not outstanding though. One negative is radiators in room were on full blast and woke with intense headache which put a dampener on my stay
