“Wonderful spring break in family run hotel central to Grasmere.”

Booked this on the day with Anna Marie. Hotel is family owned and immaculately kept, fairly large in a standalone premises set in extensive grounds right in the centre of the village of Grassmere. Easy access to the village and surrounding walking areas which was the perfect place for a spring break. Nothing too much trouble and we stayed in Mews 1 which is in a row of 4 two-storey suites separate to the main building with private parking for each and a hot tub to share. Advertised was a spring break offer which included bed and breakfast in the suite +2 Lakelands Gin with tonic and ice on arrival which was a lovely touch and helped to settle us in very quickly. The room was clean, warm and cozy with the television downstairs as well as one upstairs in the bedroom in the attic key space of the building. Bed and pillows really comfy. Lighting nice and easy to change as required. Downstairs toilet and shower over bath was clean. There was plenty of heating to keep everywhere warm and in the bathroom was a nice warm towel rail. The cleaning service was exceptional and fitted in with our daily routine. It was nice to be away from the main building which although it entailed a walk from one side of the hotel to the other outside through the grounds which was not a problem to us as we were looking further a peaceful spring break. The majority of the rooms are situated inside the main building but again access to the bar and restaurant is out through the main door and round to the back of the hotel as the only access to the restaurant from there is via the kitchen which is out of bounds except for staff. Reception is just on the inside of the main building where you can go into the hallway with a beautiful lounge on the left-hand side, including a piano and plenty of nice comfortable seating and views plus a log burner. Decor is lovely. There are seating areas in the main hallway. This leads into the dining room situated at the end of the corridor where we had breakfast both mornings it was really well laid out plenty of choice and well cooked. Fresh daffodils on the table were a lovely touch given we were in Wordsworth area. The staff are all amazing too. Nothing is too much trouble. We even asked for fresh milk to take back to the room to make coffee with which was brought through to the lounge for us. The food in the restaurant was excellent quality and plentiful and we were allowed to reserve a table in a nice quiet spot within the restaurant. The bar area has a log burner and hard floors so that it enables walkers and dog owners to bring their pets with them (and children too being holiday time) which led to a really lively family atmosphere. The drinks choice was really good and the beer was excellent. We have already been looking at availability for a few to date as we will definitely be returning soon, hopefully. Thank you again.
