This was our second stay at the Bloc Hotel Gatwick before going on holiday, and once again it was an excellent experience. Last year we upgraded to the Runway Suite which was amazing, so this time, as we knew we’d be arriving quite late, we booked the Aspire Room instead. We were lucky enough to still get a runway view even though it’s not guaranteed with this room type, which was a really nice surprise. The rooms are modern, stylish, and very well designed. Everything feels high-tech with touchscreen controls for the lighting and blinds, but you can also control everything easily from your phone which is really convenient. One of the best things about the hotel is how seamless the check-in process is. If you check in before arrival, everything gets sent directly to your phone so there’s no need to even visit reception. You receive your room number and a digital key which you use for both the lift and your room door — very quick and hassle-free. The rooms themselves are immaculate, very comfortable, and have everything you need for a short stay before a flight. We flew from the North Terminal this time, but it was still incredibly easy. The hotel is located in the South Terminal, and the free monorail to the North Terminal only takes around 3 minutes. The location really is brilliant, with direct access to all the South Terminal shops and restaurants including Wetherspoons and Marks & Spencer Food. We would absolutely use this hotel again whenever flying from Gatwick. The convenience alone makes it worth it, and the modern rooms and smooth check-in experience make it even better.
