“Very nice hotel with great staff”

Lovely appointed hotel with nice rooms and good parking. Staff excellent and helpful. Bar service is also very good food was good and hot but a tad expensive. My only quibbles are thru just okayed sky news all the time and traction tv was just a screening service that was poor. Needs normal tv. B… more

Lovely appointed hotel with nice rooms and good parking. Staff excellent and helpful. Bar service is also very good food was good and hot but a tad expensive. My only quibbles are thru just okayed sky news all the time and traction tv was just a screening service that was poor. Needs normal tv. But all in all I would stay again in the area.

“Left in the dark”

I was given room 233 but it had no electricity. This was followed by room 253 also without electricity. I was given room 233 but it had no electricity. This was followed by room 253 also without electricity. Finally, I was given room 151 overlooking the street; I was kept awake most of the night because of traffic noise. I don't like the idea of being given a 7 digit key code prefixed with a * and followed by a #. Not only are the numbers and characters on the pad small but they are noisy, as I found out when a guest in a neighbouring room was using it. It's not also good for saving electricity as there is nothing to stop guests from leaving lights on when not in the room; a plastic key in a circuit breaker holder near the door, solves this problem As for the breakfast, it was a free-for-all at 06:30 hrs. when about 20 guests attempted to select their meals in a restricted space. Furthermore, there were no large spoons and nobody to ask for most of the half hour I was there. It made eating a cereal with milk using a teaspoon very interesting. I found the hotel to be better when it was the Penta hotel.

This place use to be a nice bar to go nice chilled out environment, comfy chesterfield sofas good lighting etc but it's one of those where they've spent a load of money yo make it look like every hotel bar out there removing any uniqueness it had before and replaced all the comfy seating with little hotel lobby type chairs....real shame. Also thought about grabbing some dinner but at an extortionate £43 for a 300 gram steak decided against it.
