Easy to book online. Stayed in the beautiful Purfleet room. Very quiet. One tiny criticism & that is the grouting round the bath could do with replacing. No parking but we used the JustPark app to park the car a couple of minutes walk away. The hotel does have a 20-minute unloading bay which we used before moving the car to its overnight location. Excellent, hearty breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

“Trendy or stylish?”

We popped in for an evening drink and were surprised to see that the once cosy, elegant bar is now a disappointing characterless area. The traditional furniture, more suited to the elegant Georgian era has given way to trend, rather than style. There is a difference and The Bank House deserves to keep it's more distinguished atmosphere in keeping with it's history.

The food saved our experience, but we won’t be going back to stay. We booked to stay with a few weeks notice, specifically chose to pay for a deluxe room at £185 because the website listing stated the room had a super king size bed. The manager checked us in after walking us through the entire hotel from the bar, we were allocated the captains room. Even he struggled to unlock the door. That theme continued through our stay, whether from inside or outside the room. The room boasted a standard sized double bed, a very dated and tired room, although the bed was comfortable and it was spacious. The TV didn’t work, and we woken at 8.30 the next morning to workers drilling something in the yard outside our window. We were told breakfast was 8am-10am for a continental meal or 10am-11am for a cooked breakfast. We waited to go for breakfast until 10 for the cooked breakfast but were then told we would have to pay extra for that. Terrible customer service, poorly managed expectations, my concerns about the bed were dismissed because ‘we’d already been upgraded’, without being asked what was important to us about the stay. Loads of other places to stay in Kings Lynn, I’d recommend trying elsewhere.

The restaurant is tastefully decorated and the staff very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately the food wasn’t to the standard I would expect for the price we paid. The steak although it tasted good was very chewy and the fish and chips quite greasy. My husband’s dessert was served on a massive plate but was tiny, the sides broken and only half a scoop of ice cream with it. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.
