Pros: Friendly reception staff on arrival allowed me to check-in early. Room was comfortable and the aircon was excellent. Good location on a waterfront with lots of eating options. The steak restaurant on the fifth floor was a good option for dinner. Cons: Finding the hotel from the road was quite stressful and confusing. Get clear directions if driving. Parking is limited in an underground car park, and also an expensive additional charge. There were a couple of maintenance issues in the bathroom needing attention. The view from the window was of a brick wall. If a good view matters to you, specify this when booking. Some items were missing at breakfast. On my second morning there was no bacon, beans or fried egg, which was very poor. Staff said the items would be replenished "in a few minutes", but 10 minutes later still no bacon or eggs! It is only a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel to Lincoln city centre, but it is a climb up a hill called "Steep Hill". Appropriately named, it is very steep! Lots of nice independent shops along the way, but some people would struggle with the climb.

“Expensive parking”

Lovely rooms, although the aircon was controlled remotely. At 07:00 hrs the aircon, although switched off, came on and blasted ice cold air into the room. Lovely rooms, although the aircon was controlled remotely. At 07:00 hrs the aircon, although switched off, came on and blasted ice cold air into the room. We then had to get up, switch the aircon off, then wait about 5 minutes for it to stop. I mentioned this to reception but was told the system is on timer. On top of the room price we were charged a further 48 pounds to park the car for three days - huge amount to charge your customers. Hence only 3 stars.

“Good except the view”

We stayed here as we were attending a charity function in the hotel. Good points - staff were great, especially the waiting staff in the function. Great choice of breakfast. We stayed here as we were attending a charity function in the hotel. Good points - staff were great, especially the waiting staff in the function. Great choice of breakfast. Room was clean and spacious and bed really comfortable. Air conditioning which was good in the warm weather. Bad points - no small fridge in which to keep our water & milk cool. The the main issue ...while the curtains suggested a large window, we opened them to reveal a small un-opening window with frosting, which had been peeled off to reveal a brick wall only a couple of feet away and we could see nothing else. No daylight. No idea of weather outside and quite claustrophobic. There may have been options to choose a room 'with a view' and had I realised that this was the alternative I would have paid extra. I don't need a spectacular view, but not NO view whatsoever. There was no lighting in the room suitable for getting ready/makeup etc in a mirror, bathroom typically lit from above causing shadows, or lamps for ambient lighting only. Get some LED mirrors! Don't think it was very good value for money given this and if I was staying in Lincoln again I'd look at other hotels first.
