Me & my daughter stayed here in a twin room over looking the river.Staff were lovely we left our suitcase as it was too early to check in and went about our day.The room was nice but in need of a facelift the walls and carpet were marked but everything else was fine.The river view was lovely to look at.There was Tea and coffee available.The beds were super comfy and got a good nights sleep.The hotel is about 10 min walk from everything bars restaurants shops and the train station... The negative comments must be getting mixed up with the holiday inn express.The staff were really helpful and friendly i would stay here again.

“My home away from home for 3 weeks.”

I stayed at the Holiday Inn on Brayford Wharf North 14 years ago in March 2012, so I was curious to see if the property had kept the good standards I experienced last time. This time, I got a room in the newer section in the back (only 5 years old) and although you don't get a view of the waterfront, the room I had was really nice and quiet (end of hall on 4th floor). The room was fully equipped. Bed comfort was good, with 4 included pillows. What I liked: + Very quiet/soundproof except for adjacent room door + Good size room + TV was high quality and I could fit a streaming sick in the back + Wi-Fi was solid + Water pressure and temperature + 2 efficient elevators + Very good comprehensive breakfast --- the omelettes made to order are huge and delicious + Staff are friendly and engaging, but especially the restaurant staff + Location is excellent for strolling and reaching eating options quickly To Improve - Offer a small HDMI extension cord for streaming sticks (if requested), as the TVs are not "Smart TVs" and the HDMI port is difficult to reach. - The gym was very small and the main weight machine was broken, with no sign saying when it would be repaired. I suppose they could have brought some free weights in temporarily. The gym is so small that I think that large machine should be removed and replaced with a small rack of free weights. As it was, the area was so cramped and uninviting. - Parking: upon arrival I was offered daily parking, which I registered for, however when arriving late in the evenings from work, It was challenging and stressful to find a spot. However, I never had to use public parking in 3 weeks as the staff always managed to find some kind of space for me. - The heating control in the room is a bit confusing. Although there is a fan symbol that you can set for 3 different speeds, you never hear or feel anything coming from the ventilation grill. Even after 3 weeks it was not explained to me adequately how this system works? Is it simply like a baseboard heater with no fan and the fan symbol is fake? Some people like the feel of warm or cool air and to hear the "white noise" effect. This system is dead silent with not a hint of any air pushing. All in all, this hotel felt like a nice friendly home for 3 weeks and I would not hesitate to return, notwithstanding the few issues encountered. TIP: here is a Tesco 2 doors away that is open late.

“A Little Slice of America in Lincoln”

Lincoln UK mind you, not Lincoln NB, where I've also stayed. I prefer the UK version. This hotel has everything you'd expect from a major US chain and is quite busy with weddings and groups - it has largish rooms, and is very clean and efficient. The reception put me at the far end of the third floor however, with a view of the building rear service area, and I have a torn ligament, so didn't really appreciate that. The breakfast is also no deal at 19 pounds - I ate next door at the Harvester for half that and prob better. The room had a firm bed and large comfy pillows (at last - a rarity in the UK it seems) but unfortunately they had one of those bizarre half glass showers the updated places seem to love - but which allow water to spray all over the floor. All in all, good but next time will try to find someplace with more charm and for less money.
