We normally stay on Brayford Wharf when visiting Lincoln but decided on staying at the top of the hill instead of the bottom for a change. First impressions on arrival….wow, what brilliant staff!!! We arrived early so didn’t expect to be able to check in but, as the weather was amazing, wanted to have a full day in Lincoln. Staff were superb and no issues with leaving our car in the car park while we spent the afternoon in the city. Hotel is in a great location immediately opposite Lincoln Cathedral and, although there is a reasonably sized outside area, very few tables and chairs are located outside. As it was such a lovely day, it would have been nice to sit and have a drink before heading down the hill but the few tables and chairs that are located outside had been pulled together and one group occupied them all, leaving none for any other visitors unfortunately. When we did return to check in, first impressions of the room were a little disappointing. We’d paid for a premium room with a view of the cathedral and a very small balcony area. The room itself was ok but certainly showing signs of aging. What really surprised us was the fact that there wasn’t even a complementary bottle of water (or one that you could purchase for that matter!) in the room and, although there was space for a fridge, there wasn’t one in the room. We stepped outside onto the small balcony to enjoy the sun and the cathedral bells but we have to be honest, it was somewhere you’d want to spend any time. It was very obvious that it hadn’t seen a brush or a moo for a very long time. On the plus side, the bed was comfy and, despite the best attempts of the amazing thunder storm that night, we slept really well. Breakfast was pretty good with plenty of choice and, once again, the staff were excellent. We do visit Lincoln quite often but we think we’ll be returning to the bottom of the hill for our next stay……what a shame the hotel itself doesn’t match up to the fantastic staff that they employ

“Great location for event at Castle”

Dining room gorgeous breakfast lovely..however once plug in bathroom sink it wouldn't come out...mentioned this at checkout told there is a lever to press...had there been a lever i would have pressed it!!! Told owed for a var bill when I paid for drinks at time of purchase then told owed for break… more
