Staff was very nice, everyone was friendly and helpful. The room/apartment itself was good, big and nice layout. The bed was comfortable and the shower and bathroom spacious and everything there worked well. The floors, both hardwood and the carpet, were not as clean as I'd expect. It wasn't awful, but the hardwood floor felt sticky and had noticeable smudges in several places that made me think it had not actually been mopped since the last guests. The carpet looks like it may have been vacuumed but not very thoroughly and there were several large smudges of dirt or stains still there. The countertop and the kitchenette table were also not very clean -- I wiped them down before I used them and the paper towels I used to wipe them were very noticeably dirty. The balcony door to my room was broken, and covered with giant yellow plastic tape in several places. The balcony window also had several large greasy hand prints on it. I felt a bit as if I'd been given an unfinished room. I did like the room and the location was very convenient for me, but at that price I'd have expected better cleanliness.

We stayed at The Cove on Friday 6th March as part of a surprise birthday trip for my partner. On arrival, the staff were very friendly and check-in was smooth, which gave us a great first impression. Unfortunately, when we entered our apartment we were immediately hit with a very strong and unpleasant smell that resembled a drain or sewage issue. The smell filled the entire apartment and made it very uncomfortable to stay in. We reported this to reception straight away and the concierge came to check the room and agreed that the smell was very unpleasant. Initially we were told there were no other rooms available and that maintenance had already left for the day, meaning the issue wouldn’t be resolved during our stay. Because of this, we decided to book another apartment elsewhere so we could still enjoy the evening. As we were leaving, reception then told us they had found another room for us, which was frustrating as we had already been told the property was fully booked and had already arranged alternative accommodation. The replacement apartment itself was much fresher and didn’t have the same smell, although we did notice stains on the bedding and marks on the towels that looked like makeup, which made us question whether they had been properly cleaned. During the night we also had to contact concierge several times due to loud music coming from a neighbouring apartment, which unfortunately disrupted our sleep. Overall, while the staff were polite and tried to help, the unpleasant smell in the original room, cleanliness concerns, and noise issues meant the stay didn’t live up to expectations — especially as it was meant to be a special birthday trip.
