As a business customer, I only have a few expectations, a smooth check-in, cleanliness and good facilities. The California met all of these with character and style and have a wonderful welcoming Team. Check in was faultless at 7pm with everything explained , my room was upgraded just for being polite and the hotel has bags of charm and character. A great location for St Pancras and the first class tube network. One very happy guest and one excellent hotel. See you again soon

The location was very convenient for traveling around London as well as traveling to other areas, since it is close to St. Pancras International Railway Station and King's Cross Railway Station. The hotel's atmosphere is chique and the staff are friendly and helpful, especially Lynette, who helped us a lot on the last day of our stay there.

One of the better hotels near Kings Cross / St. Pancras - just a few steps away, yet not on the busy thoroughfare. Our room (#7) was spacious and bright (yellow!) with a large ensuite bathroom tub / shower. Despite it being winter outside, it was wonderfully warm and cozy throughout. The public areas are eclectic and fun - and the staff is friendly and outgoing. Great value for money for those quick stays in London. The place was clean through and through - with industrious staff keeping rooms and lounges spotless. Like most London conversion hotels, there are some drawbacks that may prove insurmountable for some: no lift, a high front step, winding / narrow / multi-level corridors, and limited access to wall sockets. I was also not tall enough to reach the shade on my skylight windows. There is a distant rumbling from the underground, but it is not loud enough to be bothersome. But despite these minor challenges, I would stay here again!

“Good for a flying visit”

We stayed in the hotel as a family in March (basically 4 adults as kids are 19 and 22 !) We were only coming into London for a gig, arriving at 4pm and planned to travel back at 8.30am the next day, so didn’t see the point of spending a lot on 2 rooms that we would essentially only be sleeping in. We have previously used 2 other hotels in the chain so thought we’d give this a go. At £140 for a room for all 4 of us it seemed good value for London. The hotel is in an excellent location, minutes from Kings Cross and very easily accessible on foot. On arrival, the lobby and bar area appeared clean, well kept and had a quirky decor that we all loved. Reception staff were very friendly and the check in process was simple and painless. Our room was on the first floor, but I did notice a sign that said we’re happy to help with bags if you needed to go upstairs. The room itself was pretty basic and comprised of a double bed, 2 singles, TV and open wardrobe. It also had basic tea and coffee making facilities. We found the room and the linens to be spotlessly clean and there was a nice airy smell to the room. Our only negatives were that the double bed is only really a 3/4 style double, so very tight for 2. It’s also on the main road so is quite noisy all through the night with traffic, sirens and people walking home from pubs and bars. If I was popping into London for a quick visit I would definitely stay here again but would need to find out if the other rooms had bigger beds. It is ideal for young people who want an inexpensive but lovely place to stay.
