There are positives and negatives to this hotel, although reading other reviews suggests it varies a lot. Firstly the positives - location is great (I was at Loughborough for a sports competition), the bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. The guy on reception was also really lovely and helpful when I arrived. Now the not so good. The room ( on third floor) was boiling hot. I turned off the radiator (there is no ac) and tried my best to open the window (which is like a swing window) but it wouldn't open beyond a tiny crack. So I spent the night roasting. When I went to open the window there were post it notes on it, suggesting perhaps it hadn't been looked at since last guest. As a sport focussed facility, I was suprised not to have a Fridge in my room (looks like others did from reviews) which meant the food I had bought for the next day had to be binned. Then came the party. The people in the next room were playing drill music and "singing" along until the early hours ( bear in mind I didn't arrive until gone 9pm) and the people above were I think practicing their 100m sprints along the corridor. They might as well have all been in my room. After asking them to turn the music down twice, I gave up. I don't know if it's because I was in a room with an adjoining door or just there is zero soundproofing in the hotel. I went to breakfast at 7am. The room door was odd, you had to really slam it to make it close (which given I knew how much noise travelled I felt bad about). Breakfast has some good variety but no one to help you navigate it. I couldn't actually reach any of the second row of hot food, and no one was around to ask. Overall, I have to say that at over £110 a night, I was disappointed and feel like I would have got the same experience elsewhere for a lot less. I booked this with expectations of a venue that was built around sports people being ready to compete ... I didn't get that at all.

This is one of the strangest hotels I've stayed at. It does some things extremely well and then falls flat on its face (to use an athletics metaphor) in other respects. Positives - the hotel has a convenient location just off the M1, in a quiet corner of Loughborough. Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. The room was spacious, with one or two features I wouldn't have expected - a fridge and an entire wall of storage. The beds were soft and comfortable with clean white linen, and the few staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The communal areas are smartly decorated and characterful. Negatives - the hotel is very difficult to find, buried alive on a sprawling university campus. If you arrive at the north entrance late at night, you physically can't drive to it because of padlocked metal barriers - we only discovered after much trial and error in the dark that there's an eastern campus entrance where you can drive to the hotel unimpeded. Positioning the hotel halfway down a running track (which you have to drive along) also isn't intuitive, and the campus signage is awful. There isn't a great deal of non-disabled parking, though we did get a space at night. Mistakes - the restaurant claims to be open at certain hours but what they don't tell you is that you need to pre-book dinner - if you don't, the restaurant simply closes. Not good for hungry travellers arriving halfway through the designated dinner time to find everything closed, though Deliveroo arrived very quickly when we ordered from them instead. The room lacks basic features like air con and tissues, and the accessible wet room shower flooded due to an insufficiently sloped floor. The sink was clogged and wouldn't drain properly, either.
